I am afraid......

Post » Sat Dec 17, 2011 2:01 am

I am eagerly waiting until the weekend to get skyrim (focusing on school work so I dont fail), but I have seen mixed reviews. People are saying 11/10, best game every, game of the year, etc. Some people are saying waste of money, not that fun, bad graphics, etc. After seeing those bad reviews I am almost re-thinking about buying this game. I want it terribly bad though. Should I get it?

Post your complaints about the game and what you love.

Change the poll, have to vote for both good and bad, can't just choose one.

Skyrim is an 11/10 game. Loving every single second of it.

You created two questions. In order to answer, people must say that it is both a good game and a bad game.

Get it. Most of the hate is nitpicking at best.

And anyone who says graphics are bad needs to figure out how to prioritze. The game looks better than any shooter, even if it doesn't have the same polycount, texture resolution, animation quality, or lighting sophistication. Heck, most "Great Graphics" games that I've seen tend to have said graphics just emphasize how wrong and unnatural things are. Rage, Battlefield 3, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are particularly bad with this: Yeah, your graphics are technically great, but "real" stuff doesn't act like that. And people can see in a much broader spectrum than "a hundred shades of beige".

It is a fun game but by no means perfect, it depends what you want out of the game really.
As for bugs, there are minor bugs and glitches but the major issues seem to be system dependant.

I haven't had any major issues on my PC, only minor issues with some radiant quests, nothing gamebreaking.

I didn't vote b/c I don't think it's a bad game and you have to vote for both questions........

Either way I love this game. 10/10 in my eyes.

I've had little to now problems.

If you are going to buy it on the PS3 I would suggest waiting a while til the bugs are stumped out, but for any other system I definitely recommend buying it.

BTW, where are you seeing all these bad reviews? Every single one of my friends is saying it's either the best game they've ever played or one of the most amazing games ever.

Skyrim is a great game, but you have to understand it's a jack of all trades, not a master of everything. The stealth will never be Deus Ex's, the combat will never be Assassin's Creed's, the magic will never be D&D's, the dungeon design will never be Zelda's, and the story writing will never be Mass Effect's, but each stands by itself well and together they deliver one big massive world where you can invest a hundred hours of game play while being free to do whatever you like, and you will always be discovering new things around the next corner.

It's a great game.

I'm about as old school a gamer as they come, and I have to admit it's great...it has it's imperfections, but if you liked the other TES games AT ALL, this one is going to blow you away.

Unless of course you are one of those people who thinks THIS GAME svckS BECAUSE I CAN'T HAVE PAULDRONS LIKE MORROWIND, which describes probably 75% of the people who regularly post hate threads about it.

Better than the previous games in the series? No, not to me, but its better than 99% of the rest of the games out there.

Now the poll seems to be broke with only the good votes from the previous two questions being left in.

This poll has more bugs in it than a Beth magic system....

8-10 for me. Great game but a looong way from perfect.

If you are asking these questions you are not a tes vet, and you wont be frustrated like us old timers who see the same type of bugs and issues for 20 years of gaming, so you will like it.

Great game, but unfortunately I am on the PS3 and the game becomes broken after a certain amount of time playing it.

OP, the only answers you are going to get are from rabid [censored] claiming skyrim is the best thing since six, and rabid [censored] claiming skyrim is a total betrayal of the entire TES series. were i you, id go to a more...neutral forum of discussion, perhaps some little internet reviewers who gives their honest opinions, and see what they have to say. see what problems people have with the game, and if the particular style of semi-directionless open-worldness is something you are interested in.

i personally think skyrim is the worst of the series, but it hasnt been properly modded yet, so it might end up the best for all i know. even so, the vanilla game is still better than most of the crap the industry calls games nowadays, so regardless of overall quality, relatively speaking its probably the best thing out there right now. its VERY buggy, especially if your on the PS3, so you may want to wait a awhile. at any rate, there is a lot of hours you can put into the game, so even if you can only get into a fraction of what skyrim has to offer, your probably getting your money's worth. assuming the game doesnt crash 13 times and corrupt your saves...

It's your average TES game.

For many this is the best thing ever, for others this is the death of the series and the industry and they won't be playing this until the DLC comes out.
