after companion mods where the companions heal themselves au

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 10:11 am

Hi, i'm after companion mods, where the companion(s) will automatically heal themselves when their health gets low. I am rather sick of hainvg to heal my companions after every battle by talking to them. I've had a look, but I've not had any luck.

Any suggestions?

http://lovkullen.net/Emma/Kateri.htm will heal himself (if he has enough magicka) and take potions as needed (if he has them in his inventory). He is only an option, though, if you aren't too far along in the Main Quest.

why talk to them? most should use vanilla (not homebrew) healing potions in their inventory, or you can use spellmaking to make a "heal on target/touch" spell

A Lord's Men offers a plethora of generic guard companions as well as a variety of other companions such as butlers, maids, dancers, and even trainers for sale that will heal themselves providing they have enough magicka and have a healing spell, they don't offer any type of quests, but they are for the most part very hardy companions, with some very efficient scripting.

Any NPC should heal itself if it has healing potions in its inventory. Note that these have to be healing potions from the game, brewed ones don't count.

Indirectly apropos to this discussion is something I was pondering recently... how degraded does a companion's health have to be before they will use potions, or is there no hard and fast rule? For example, Jasmine still has all of the Restore Health & Restore Magicka potions (15 of each) that I gave her originally, some 300 or so day days ago. Constance will complain that she is injured and only seems to take potions if I tell her to (despite always having an ample supply in her inventory). Not sure what Julan's typical behavior is (if there is such a thing as "typical Julan behavior")... I maxed out his Restoration skill ages ago, and since he uses a lot more Magicka potions than he does Restore Health potions, I assume he will cast before swilling - even so, after a tough opponent and with depleted Magicka and his health at what I consider to be an alarming level (below 50%), Julan doesn't automagically take a potion. Hmmmm... is it that a companion will only take potions until they are no longer in peril? In general, I try to keep everyone in pretty good shape with an area Restore Health spell, but now I wonder if I am over-cautious... So, just how much does companion health need to be micro-managed?

those are extensively scripted companions, yes? perhaps something in the script is modifying default NPC behavior? usually, you cant get them to STOP chugging potions (i've had RAK_fgba_t1minion popping pots at 75~80% health...... and fatigue pots every 5 mins or so while traveling.

Look at http://baratheon79.rpgmods.com/companionmods.html companions. Arya and Kendra (maybe, some/most/all others too) do have REGENERATION ability - this will automatically restore theirs health to the maximum, all the time.

Time to stress-test 'em! I'll stop fretting and hovering, and see if anyone dies...

Edited to add the following:

The tipping point for automatic potion-taking seems to be about 35 or 40 percent health. And no one died.
