After max affinity......

Post » Sun Dec 13, 2015 2:11 am

Its been a while since i reached max affinity with Piper, is there still a reason why I should keep her around?

The reason I have been keeping her around because I don't want to miss any dialogue sequences or any parts where her character contributes to the situation.......but I haven't come across any such situation in a long while......so now I am wondering, if I should take other companions........

Can anyone please shed some light on this?

Thanks

Piper is now happily tending the crops at the Red Rocket while Dogmeat keeps her company.

Cait however doesn't seem to like it when I help a group of settlers. Hey, I'm the General of the Minutemen - it's what I do!

Once you reach max affinity, park yer companions somewhere and put 'em to work. Note, don't park 'em in a settlement that yer trying to raise to max happiness.

You may miss a comment or three, but if they're needed for a quest, you'll know.

Unless you're doing a romance thing, not much point in keeping any specific follower after max affinity. Personal preference takes over after that.

Yes, you may loose out on a good one liner or two, but their max affinity perk stays with you regardless. For instance, I've been going around with Preston, and I still have the effect from Nick's perk.

So, if you want to switch out Piper, go ahead. You're not going to loose much by not having her around.

I find Piper a useful companion even after reaching max affinity. I stuck her in Solitude to rest for a while to try a couple of others but I still prefer to take her to watch my back - most of the time.

Well piper is special because just having her along grants the effect of her perk (aka just having her along gives ya double exp from location discovery and dialogue persuasion) and once you have the actual perk from maxing affinity, it stacks, so you'll get 4x exp from places and persuasion.

Piper is XP bonus. Having her tag along is 2x XP for marking locations and persuading people. You get another 2x XP after reaching max affinity. So if tally up Lover's Embrace, Having Piper as a companion, Live & Love {4,7,8}, and Gift of Gab, you get a whopping +49% XP bonus for marking locations and persuading people. Then there's squirrel soup and latent intelligence, and intelligence bonus from equipment and Mentats.

Which is funny, because as a Sentinel of the BoS it is my duty to protect the Commonwealth in exchange for their crops...yet Cait disapproves of such actions...
