After seeing the Quakecon character screens

Post » Sat Aug 13, 2011 11:21 am

I was pretty happy today when I saw the 1st screenshot of the characters that the Media used in their demoing of Skyrim at Quakecon. The 1st Khajitt looked cool, the 2nd one was just as cool, the orc looked interesting and then the Bosmer, holy cow they Dragon Aged him up (Which is good the Bosmers looked too much like Mer). After seeing the Bosmer pick though I got a huge worry that the Bretons may too have gotten the change stick to differ from Imperials. I hope that is not the case but I trust Bethesda Game Studios, I loved using the Bretons in Oblivion they were my favorite race to play. Sure they were overpowering at times but I felt a nice attachment to the race, which is why I hope that Beth releases a Breton pick (Male or Female it doesn't matter) soon or else I'll be playing as Imperial. Is anybody else concerned that the Bretons will get changed too much after what we saw happen to the Bosmer.

The change will probably be less than you think, considering that people are having trouble telling Redguards, Imperials, and Nords apart in the screenshots. The elves got a more gaunt, feral look to differentiate them from the human races. The Bretons will probably get a little bit of that, but they'll still look human.

I got kind of worried when I saw the khajiit that had Reagan cheeks. The argonians look like they've gotten the best upgrade so far.

A seen, you can make anyone look like anything. The old Orc pic looks like a warrior. The new one looks like a news caster turning into the hulk.

The Bretons should be pale imperials with slightly pointy ears and gaunter faces.

I think the change to the bosmer was amazing. Never actually considered playing one until now. I hope that Bretons are altered so you can distinguish them between Imperials/Nords as well, I prefer the 10 races actually look like 10 different races. Which seems to be the case so far in skyrim.

Breatons will be cool too.

Nah that was just my 1st thought when I saw the Bosmer pick, I love the new look of the Bosmers. Now when I see one, I'll be like yup that's a Bosmer. Ok I'm getting a little sidetracked so I'm gonna get back ontopic and hope that Beth didn't overhaul the Bretons look.

The Breton looks awesome. And let's not forget, with all the customisation options, you could always just change a Breton to how you think they should look.

I'm desperately praying that they got hit really hard with this "change stick" - I really hate the fact that you can't tell Bretons and Imperials apart in Oblivion.

Hope they look completely different.

Personally, I would welcome a bigger change to the Breton race. Besides skin tone I could never really tell the difference between a Breton and an Imperial.

You can tell the difference between a Female Breton and a Female Imperial in Oblivion. The Female Breton will be shorter, create a female Imperial and have her stand next to Rachelle Bentian, she will be taller. The male Bretons and Male Imperials you can't tell apart that easily (Apart from Voice). If there are any changes I hope the Bretons don't get uglier, I do have faith in BGS so we will have to wait and see.

I personally thought that Bretons look far too similar to Imperials in Oblivion. I hope that this time round Bretons will be similar to Imperials but look a bit more elegant. I'm not too sure about this new apparent feral nature in elves, they look very wild, I suppose to fit in with Skyrim.
