After Skyrim is Released

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 10:31 pm

Will you come back to Oblivion after Skyrim? Will you leave it on the shelf? Will you not buy Skyrim?

I will personally play Skyrim as my main game, but I'll probably frequently play Oblivion after I get bored of it.

It depends really. If Skyrim is better or par compared to oblivion 90% of people will continue to play oblivion on the side as when morrowind became 2nd to oblivion in release dates. So, i plan to play skyrim even if its not better than oblivion to see the new land, monsters, main quest, and off-quests. :obliviongate:

Nothing will ever kill Oblivion or Morrowind for me, so I voted #1.

I did not vote in the Poll. Skyrim is an almost total unknown. Depending on what we find out between now and release I may or may not get it, and in any case I'm apt to wait until it's been out a while and dropped to a reasonable price.

Whether I will or won't prefer it over Oblivion (or Morrowind or Daggerfall) is also unknown.

That said, I'm a huge fan of modded Oblivion and hope to continue playing it for some years to come, regardless of how well I like Skyrim.

I did not vote as I have no idea. If I like Skyrim as much as I like Oblivion and it has nice mods for when I am tired of vanilla Skyrim... well, then I doubt I will go back to Oblivion.

I cannot be expected to vote in such a poll, as I really have no idea..

Although I doubt there would be any real reason for me going back to Oblivion anyway. I only play it now for RP. I think I've extracted pretty much all I possibly could have in the vanilla game..

Depends on how Skyrim turns out. I'm not fanatic about Oblivion, so it might be that I prefer Skyrim and Morrowind so much over Oblivion I'll just not play it anymore. On the other hand, I usually play old games for nostalgic reasons.

Most likely I'll play Skyrim and Morrowind a lot, and some Oblivion every once in a while.

I will continue to play Oblivion for at least a year before I consider Skyrim. As with any new game, I wait for it to get reviewed, patched, tweaked, expanded, modded, wiki'd, etc before I will go near it. I will be paying attention to the reports of others though as my character and I gradually decide if we want to expand our journey to inlcude TES V.

I think, like a lot of people, I'll have to wait and see how it goes. I expect that I will play mostly Skyrim (hopefully port some of my Mods over, if they release a CS for it), with a little bit of Oblivion. Now if only they could somehow make it run the Oblivion .esm too... (goes off to a fantasy world where Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim all work perfectly in one Game)

I simply meant that I want the game to be thoroughly anolyzed, documented and unravelled by the whole TES community before I consider playing it. When / if I do play Skyrim, I will initially play it vanilla of course. How else would one know what may or may not need to be tweaked by mods? :)

The only one I could honestly agree with was the "Yes, but Skyrim will be my main game" and that will only be true for a short time. Like Acadian, I'll be waiting until it has been checked out by the pioneers, and they've proved that mods will work if anything needs changing. If it's a proper TES V following the line of earlier games in the series, (and not a giant leap sideways for crabkind,) then it will get played as the main game, and older games will be played less, but they will still be played.

I may even mod it before I play it. My main interest is in mod-making, so I gravitate to games that let me change them. You can't really make any mod without playing both with and without it, so strictly speaking the first bit of playing will be vanilla (even if it's just to check the installation worked), but mods ARE the game for me. If Skyrim launches with a "CS to follow", then I'll wait for the CS availability before buying it. My vote assumes that there will be one.

I played Morrowind after Oblivion was released. I will play Oblivion after Skyrim is released. I don't understand why I (or anyone else) wouldn't. If a game is a good game now it will always be a good game. If it is worth playing in 2002 it is worth playing in 2006. If it is worth playing in 2006 it is worth playing in 2010. Newer games do not render older games obsolete.

I still play Doom from time to time, so I see no reason to stop playing Oblivion. Like Acadian, I am in no hurry for Skyrim. I would prefer to wait for its bugs to be fixed, and all of its addons put together into a GOTY package before I buy it.

If Skyrim is any good, I'll be playing Oblivion only sporadically, just for the memories.

(And just to visit dozens of places I've never visited in Cyrodiil - yes, I still haven't discovered all places in the game!)

After Skyrim was announced I created one last character for Oblivion. Once this character is finished with the main quest (this will take months) I won't play Oblivion again. I'm very much looking forward to Skyrim's release, Nords have always been my favorite.

I will still play Oblivion, but I'm not sure to which degree. Skyrim hasn't been released, so I don't know if I will like it more or not. Oblivion may continue being my main Elder Scrolls game or it may be Skyrim, but I still play all the numbered Elder Scrolls games, at least once in a while, so there is no reason for me to stop playing my favorite of the four just because another comes out.

Ok I added a new poll choice because most people seem to want this choice.

Can't be sure at this point. It really depends on how good Skyrim is and how much Oblivion I play in these next 11 months. I expect I'll play a lot less Oblivion though

I wont play anywhere near as much Oblivion, but hopefully I wont just leave it to gather dust. I'd like to think i'd play it every so often. Perhaps just for nostalgia, but I don't think I could ever just forget it, no matter how good Skyrim is.
