So DW or 2H against dragons...

Post » Mon Mar 10, 2014 8:20 am

My current mage assassin started to get Dragons after him because

Spoiler
I wanted to become the Dragonborn and travel to Solthsiem for Bound Dagger

Now, Archery is my main combat skill, as I have Quick shot and Ranger and use Bound Bow...so I'm find in that regard but I want to eventaully use my Dual Bound Swords against all enemies. In a previous topic I was suggested I fight the dragons from the side or behind. Are there any suggestions when using Dual wield? This info could also help when I do my 2H Orc berserker. I've fought Dragons using 2H before but I was always spamming potions.

If you're playing Vanilla Skyrim (or on consoles) dual wielding bound weapons against dragons is very feasible. And looks pretty awesome, too.

While dual-wielding offers greater damage, Two-handed weapons allow you to bash a dragon and stop it from Thu'uming.

My choice for dragons? Lightning bolts.

As for DW vs. 2H, I think I'd give the nod to DW, dince the damage is greater and you can't block its fire or ice attacks. But if you can bash the wyrm, that might tip the balance in 2H's favor. Never tried to, so I don't know if they're bashable.

With mage assasin, you should use fire bolt, lightning bolt, and other ranged destruction spells. Powers like Spectral Assassin will help too.

You don't need to start the MQ to go to Solstheim, I'm pretty sure you can go whenever...

You can go to Solstheim whenever IIRC. As for DW versus Dragons - have you tried the Elemental Fury shout? It makes your dual power attack much faster but only works on unenchanted blades (I think)

However the main dragon born quest won't start if you are not dragon born.

Dual Wielding becomes less effective as the Game progresses, but increasing the Health Pool of the PC can offset the damage a character takes before the Dragon dies.

I carry a Staff of Storm Atronach made in the Atronach Forge in the Midden of the College of Winterhold to assist with higher tier Dragons.

Dual-Wielding is the way to go if you're among the higher levels and you put out great damage. Those power attacks can be lethal. For a lower character, 2H.
