Agamir back from the dead..

Post » Mon Nov 15, 2010 11:16 pm

'Unfriendly Competition' was the first quest I completed after coming out of the sewers, I rememebr it well and fondly because it was first experience of a quest in Oblivion. But, after 50 hours of game time spent with Oblivion I have stumbled upon something rather odd, somewhat creepy in fact.

I had just finished an arena battle and was wandering about green emperor way when I saw him (Agamir) he is quite easy to spot what with his navy top and striking blonde/yellow hair. It was like seeing a ghost, I spoke to him and he didn't seem to want to say an awful lot tbh. Now, I would have had to have killed him in the original quest to complete that quest, I can clearly remember doing so. A quick check on my completed quests list showed that I had finished this quest after the tutorial.

I can even remember looting his dead body. So may I ask, what has happened?

Wow.... that's a new one on me. I can't even imagine how that might've happened, and you're right - it's sort of creepy.

(I've been dying to tell this story) - in my most recent travels, with tiny Hanna, Rolgarel (Agarmir's henchman) is presumably still alive. Well... maybe.

Hanna can't engage in melee combat at all. She's little and weak and poorly protected. So she relies almost entirely on marksman, illusion and conjuration. When she fought Agarmir and Rolgarel in the mausoleum, she commanded Rolgarel, and then he killed Agarmir. But when the command wore off, Rolgarel was non-hostile. She pvssyd with him a bit (all he had was a rumor option) then, with really no other choice, she just left him in the mausoleum.

I would assume that he was removed the next time the cell reset (should probably check the Tiber Septim to see if he's there), but of course Hanna doesn't know that. As far as she knows, he's still in there. Though it has been a couple of weeks now.......

I once did the Brotherhood Betrayed quest, the one with the vampire hunter. Anyway, my character was so sneaky, I simply pickpocketed the vampire hunters keys, took the amulet and left. Months later, while doing a mages guild quest, I passed his cave and found him screaming at me and attacking me with a blade. I paralyzed him and went on my way.

On the PC I remember leaving the Bruma Mages Guild immediately after finishing the quest where everyone there gets killed. I walked out of the armorers shop down the way after I got my weapons and armor reparied and saw Jeanne Frasoric having conversation about mud crabs with a passing guard.

I never went back there. I was afraid of what I'd find.....

Maybe it was Zombie Agamir, or his twin brother  :)

Weird things sometimes happen particularly with mods. Did he give his "Ehhhh?" greeting if you get near him? Are you sure you did Unfriendly Competition your this character, and not a previous game character?

Yes. His "Ehhhh" stands out in my mind, he definitley said this last night when I approached him, this is my first and only character in Oblivion.

I will try and find him again tonight, might try stopping by Jensine's and Thornir's too. Very odd.

Might be interesting to see if his corpse is still where you left it.

I've had an NPC come back from the dead on one of my past saves as well. What makes it super creepy is the fact that it was Glarthir. I don't like bothering with Glarthir anymore, so whenever he approaches me (outside Skingrad's west gate) with any new character I make, I lead him down the road westward past the nearest camp, in hopes that the bandits will take care of him for me. Most of my characters may be thieves but don't care much for the Dark Brotherhood. One character I had, I was sure Glarthir was dead, but one day passing through Skingrad I witness short NPC wearing the russet felt outfit with the elven lion's main hairdo. First I ignore it, then my memory triggers the fact the NPC looked like Glarthir and I'm sure Glarthir was dead. So I go up the the NPC and sure enough his name shows up as Glarthir at the bottom right of the screen. Only difference this time was the fact he was behaving like a normal citizen of Cyrodiil and plainly conversing with random NPCs about rumors. Plus the Glarthir topic didn't even show up anymore under dialogue.

Oh that's nothing. I once came across the corpse of my own character in the Tiber Septim Hotel. That was a great experience. I just chalked it down to all the booze he had drunk that day.

Spoiler
Actually what happened was, it was the corpse of the evil twin you kill in Shivering Isles. I uninstalled SI and that corpse spawned in the Tiber Septim Hotel as that is the central cell for the game. A bunch of weird stuff spawns there from time to time, including trolls and deer.

+1. Even in the vanilla game, weird stuff happens all the time. At least once per gameplay session I find myself going what the ****

Has never happened to me. But that′s the beauty of this game; what happens to you may not happen to me. Or it may :hubbahubba:

Visiting Jensine triggered the 'Unfriendly Competition' quest again. The quest is now not showing in my completed quests tab either. Now I'm lvl 20 I'm guessing the loot I'll collect from this quest will be considerably more than when I was lvl 2.

Still strange though.

Ah, that happened to me with my two first dead horses... I just found them, several times while walking down the Skingrad-Imperial City road. They just stared at me, while I was riding a new horse... it was... really creepy.

My third horse also died but still has not appeared as a "ghost" lol

Regarding you case, well it seems it was a bug that "fixed himself", in a manner of speaking :S Don't really know what caused it...
