Age Slider

Post » Mon Jul 11, 2011 2:38 pm

It's a minor nitpick, I know, but how many of you would like your character to look a little younger than what was possible in the past? It always seemed like you could only just go from middle aged to ancient in the other games. Like in Oblivion, my main, Bosmer character look like pure old crap. Then I turned into a vampire and it magically made my character young and handsome (dunno if that's happened to anyone else).

And in the Fallout games, it was just impossble to get a young looking character for me. I looked at the Lone Wanderer and was like "THAT guy is supposed to be 19?" In New Vegas, I wanted to RP The Courier as a seventeen year old, but no matter what I did, I couldn't get it to look right in the character creation screen. The only thing that saved it was the fact that you can't see the finer details of his face in actual gameplay. I wish the slider would start out about a fifth of the way forward to get that mid-twenties look, and, from there, you could move it to the very back for that teenage-ish look.

OT: No one's given me a fishy stick, yet. :sadvaultboy:

Wait... what alternate dimension were you playing your game at?

Personally wouldn't mind if they had it similar to the Sims 3 age thing. Pick young advlt, advlt, and elder..

Of course I wouldn't mind having the Sims 3 entire character creation thing (minus the clothes of course) and scars, hair length, etc

I think your definition of middle-aged must be a lot younger than mine.

Whoa whoa whoa, wait. Becoming a vampire made your character look young and handsome?! How the hell'd you manage that? Vampirism has always made my characters look old and ugly.

Anyway, I don't want to be a teenager. I was a teenager once before and it svcked and I don't know why anyone would want to be that again or to continue being that. It also always strikes me as silly when I see someone young saving the entire world. Worse when they're saving the world by fighting dragons and gods.

Exactly, PLUS the clothes - at least Sims have separate tops and bottoms ^^

 I never went past base vampire, cause I wanted to walk around in the sun with no damage. And when I looked at my guy, his whole bone structure changed, looking 100% better. I wish I had the equipment to take a pic. It's really hilarious, cause most people say that it makes them look ugly. Maybe I was so ugly, the only place I could go was up.

I personally thought that the age slider in Oblivion went from plastic baby face to wrinkly old fart ...

I had no problems making my characters in FO3 look young, but I was awfully disappointed in the way the age slider worked in New Vegas, TBH I couldn't hardly tell that it worked at all. Oblivion's age slider with better looking graphics would be fine with me.

OP: It's not nice to be begging for fishy sticks, but I'll be nice...this time, and give you your http://images.uesp.net//c/c4/Fishystick.jpg anyway.

It is my personal belief that the age slider in Oblivion was the reason for the terrible facegen. I would like it if they had 3 different types (young advlt, young, old) and not an actual slider. A slider just messes things up.

Probably. I'm only sixteen, so the thirties, while still young in the scope of things, feel middle-aged to me.

The age slider on Argonians made it look like it was a time skip of fruit going mouldy except with your face.

I think middle aged is generally considered 50-60's..

I made my Oblivion characters look young. Not like 16-year-old young, but like low twenties level.

I always thought that the slider in Oblivion went from ridiculously young looking, to a not very good version of around 30's, to somewhat old looking. I'd really just want them to distinguish the ages a little better from eachother, and update the way the ages looked, so they're more detailed and accurate.

Give it some time OP, I am sure someone will release a mod that allows you to play as the children of the various races.

Yeah, let's just give players three settings and remove as many options as possible. Oh wait, I would very much mind if they turned TES into a watered down second life.

All I've got that has any hope of running Skyrim is an Xbox. And even then, I know you're kidding, but that's not what I want. I just want to be able to play that textbook really young, naive hero. Comic books made me like this!

I alwase turn the age slider all the way down and make the face "gaunt". It makes it look a lot less "baby face" and a lot more "youthful". but thats just me...

but more to the point, Skyrims massively increased graphics in general and the fully revamped character creator should help quite a bit.

I believe its been proven over and over again that once you have the Master Sword and the Hyrulian Shield, it doesn't matter how old you are. You are now ready to save the world!
