The Captains quarters were quite nice and well decorated, definatly standing out from any other place in the outpost. It kind of made Salvius envious the Ferrus would get such privilages, but everyone else had almost dirty and lice ridden beds. Nonethless the Imperial didn't complain, at least it was a bed to sleep in, and he hadn't been killed in it. Yet. The meeting began promptly, and Ferman was quick to begin his speech. To be honest, in Salvius' opinion it seemed like more of an attempt to rally the men then discuss tactics, a bit of a shame really. But the Captain still did a good job of getting the soldiers in the mood.
Once or twice the Captain mentioned that what they were doing was for the Emperor. When is he going to realise I don't support the bastard.... Salvius thought, getting a little peeved off that killing the vampires wasn't for revenge or so they could survive, but 'for the Emperor'. However he did agree with Ferrus' idea of actually getting into the cave and combatting the beasts personally, not much else would work as the Captain was right, they're not stupid and know when a fight is going to happen, or when to flee. What a lot of people don't seem to realise is that even though they are bloodsvcking monsters, they are still human technically, and don't lose their brain like some sort of mindless zombie. Nonetheless what Salvius certainly did not agree with was Ferman's plans for John. Admittadly he couldn't stand the guy and was an insult to a proud order, but on the other hand he didn't want the man dead, even if he is a complete fool. In fact he wouldn't really want any to die, especially in such a horrible manner.
Also another factor Salvius was not happy about was the fact that Tor would be joining the attack, he was a good marksman but his swordsmanship was not succifienctly good enough to fight vampires in a confined space. It would be the loss of a great cook and once again, an even better friend. He was an assest to the Legion, but not exactly in the way Ferrus had planned him for. Although the Imperial did actually agree that Habari should join them, he was a good fighter with great potential, he just hadn't had much of a chance to show himself, especially with the tasks he is often given. Thankfully, the Captain allowed time to voice opinion to him. Salvius needed to do so, but Zhan decided to say his piece first. Unfortunatly, after listening on to the conversation between Ferman and the healer, they would not be able to cloaked. ''Dammit,'' the Imperial muttered, hoping not to be heard.
It was quite clear that Ferrus wanted to stop answering questions and instead plan for the raid. But still Salvius wasn't going to let that stop him, he needed to say what was necessary, in order to hopefully save John a nasty death, even if he did despise the guy.
''The plan is good sir, hopefully with a few swift blows here and there we can take 'em. B-but do you really have it in you to just use John like that? I know that the guy is a scumbag, but we can't just force him into death. It's not like the Legion to do so, or very humanly if I need to be honest. And think of this, what if he does somehow survive? Would you really promote him to Sergeant? And it's the same with Tor, his skills are not polished enough yet to fight vampires, especially in their own territory. Sir please understand I'm not trying to critisize your plan, but I just think they need to be changed. But it's your call sir...'' Salvius took a deep breath, he wanted to explain his ideas for increasing the safety of the outpost. ''Anyway, on to what I was wanting to say. Look we need to make this place safer at night, we've complained and complained about it, but what have we done to stop it? Almost nothing. It seems we never have anyone working the night shift patrolling the outpost interior. Well I suggest we have two or three people doing that each night, swaping shifts with people, and if they feel they can sense any, and I mean any possibilites they alarm us with whatever they use an alarm. I suggest a bell or something similar. That way we would all know, all be awake and be able to take the thing on. But most importantly we could stop the nightly attacks. Of course we would only need to do this is our raid today is unsuccessful, because if it is they will only attack us more frequently. That is all. I hope you consider what I say, in either case we need to hurry up and find the other two.'' Salvius was almost out of his breath by the end of his speech, he hoped that the Captain didn't take to harshly what he said, but unfortunatly Salvius felt he had little choice.
The legionnaire waited patiently for Ferrus to make his choice, he snacked on an apple that the Captain had offered the people attending the meeting. Yum, thats good, Salvius thought in delight, snacking on another large chunk of the fruit. It was definatly better then what everybody else got.
