Agent 47 is back!

Post » Fri Jan 17, 2014 4:42 pm

So I came across this very interesting letter to the fans of Hitman posted on the Hitman website.

http://hitman.com/open-letter-to-hitman-fans/?age-verified=2230a723d9

Things to take note of is that they mention that it will take place in several locations around the world during Agent 47's prime, so it looks like we are taking a step back in the 47 time line. Also says that the level's and environments will be huge, nonlinear and sandboxed; and that they will be the largest levels they have ever built with Hitman. All of this will be on the Glacier 2 engine.

Also something interesting is that they say 47 will no longer have his "magic pockets". I'm guessing they are going for realistic inventory system, which sounds pretty nice to me.

"We’ve adopted an open, non-linear level design approach to the game, ensuring the game will play out across huge, checkpoint-free, sandbox levels."

Talk is cheap, IO.

i enjoyed the earlier games, Absolution was terrible, as it retconed the events of Blood Money and 47.. well, didn't act like 47...

If its going back to how it was in "Blood Money" or "Codename 47", I would be more than happy to sink a little cash into it

ohh, and I can't wait to see what Situation 47 will rescue Smith from this time (Smith has to be the worst CIA agent ever)..

Yeah I know it's all talk at the moment, but if they can pull it off then I would be very happy to hand them my cash.... Granted everything else is good in the game.

So... basically what the game used to be like in the early to mid 2000's. Sounds good to me. I have only played Hitman 2, but the description of this new Hitman games sounds identical the the one I played in 2004.

Sorry, but after the blandness of Hitman: Absolution, I've lost points for IO for two reasons:

A. Absolution feels like a cheap attempt at one of those 'The badass agent goes AWOL on a personal mission' games.

and WORST of all

B. They initially replaced David Bateson, much to his disappointment, up until outcry caused the Devs to change the actor back.

New people who haven't played prior to Absolution may ask 'Why is B so bad?', here is why: Bateson has been 47 since the beginning. To replace him now would be like removing Rob Pearlman as narrator of Fallout's intro and ending slides, like hiring someone who ISN'T Michael Ironsides (Which they DID) as Sam Fisher. I could keep giving examples, but the point remains. It's just wrong to do something like that to a main character.
