Aggression 100, Confidence 100, Hostile Faction, but NPC nev

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 3:08 pm

Like the title says. After much help from the knowledgeable peeps on this forum, I thought my new boss was finally done. However, I can not get him to start combat. If I activate him, or anything attacks him first, then he fights. He's a member of both BanditFaction and ConjurerFaction, each having a disposition modifier of -100 towards PlayerFaction. Currently he doesn't have any Scripts or AI Packages, just the modified AI values; Aggression 100, Confidence 100, Energy level 100 (I'll make him wander eventually), and Responsibility 0. Also has a Personality of 100, since I'm pretty sure NPCs are more likely to be hostile when your Personality is less than their's. Can somebody tell me what I'm missing?

Try setting his personality to 25 or less and see if he attacks then.

I originally had his Personality set to 0, but that did not work either. According to the wiki, the NPC has lower disposition towards the player for each point of Personality the NPC is higher. Hence I tried using 100. If anything else attacks him, or I try talking to him, then he fights, but never before :(

It's probably something completely off-the-wall, like he can't see you. Really low sneak skill can do that, but that may only apply if the player is sneaking. There are a couple of ways a character can be "blinded", as well. Use GetAV Blindness on him just to be sure.

Console says Blindness = 0. I should mention that I am using 'coe X,Y' to teleport to his location. Would that affect his ability to detect me? Also tried Personality scores of >0 & <25, to no avail. And lastly, one version of the NPC was made from scratch, while another was copied from an existing bandit mage. Both refuse to attack upon detection (or are not detecting me at all?).

There are a lot of factors involved and I don't know what you have and haven't done, so I suggest you give http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/My_First_Dungeon a read. I followed that tutorial and it covers a lot of stuff, including NPC creation. After following that, all the NPC's attacked no problem. In fact they handed me my butt on a platter when I did the playtesting trick and entered the cell as a level 1 character with no equipment

Make sure your using a clean save game, as those values are stored in your save game and changing them later would not change them in your game.

Also, give him a default wander package, or he may not run any ai at all.

Ok, I guess I should read that stuff carefully too... since I plan 4 bosses in my mod... well, actually 8 but whatever.

Also, check to make sure that the cell he is placed in has a working path grid.

Not having that can cause all sorts of wonky behavior with NPCs.
