AHHHH The Grendel

Ok, so I whipped out the Grendel and I got a bs score. It's such a cool gun but I have no clue how to reign in it's power. I literally just swapped it out with my fy loadout to start to lvl it up:AA,Man3,rf3. So.....any good loadouts are graciously welcomed. Yes, I know I used AA. But I'm more interested in map attack as this gun is super hard to use. With love, BOOM/Cylon....

Edit: 01:12 1 more shot would have killed enemy DOH!
01:19 Should have looked 2x as I was taking damage..DDDDOOOH!
02:57 Hmmm I just launched a jaw....hmmm Im taking dmg behind me....oh well I'm jawwing lol...dead....04:39 WAKE UP!!!07:03 WHERE THE EFF R U????How to spot cloakers?!?!?!GRRRR..At any rate, kills w/this gun are very satisfying if I can only rid myself of AA.......

You're not ready for Grendel if you're still using AA, first step is learning to play without it.

Loadout - Weapon Pro has very good synergy with Grendel, the faster ADS is important and faster reloads/switching is also useful. I would personally use Weapon Pro/Retriever/Surveillance, possibly swap out Surveillance/Retriever with Maneuverability or Rapid Fire.
Keep in mind Rapid Fire isn't hugely beneficial to Grendel as it is for assault rifles and neither is Maneuverability, when firing you want to avoid movement. Align modules with the gun's strengths and mid-long range is where Grendel shines, it's not a run'n'gun hipfire weapon and you'll have a very tough time against AR+laser users in small maps like East River, Skyline and Chinatown.

Me giving Boom tips, f***ing hell times have changed.

I appreciate your input! You're right, I may not be ready but I will be :) I do like surv. quite a bit. I'm leaning twd, armor xfer, surv3, wp3. This is a loadout I'd use if I was map aware. I'm not yet. Yes, I'm BOOM, but I've clocked hours and I do love the game. I know ethically u can't look past/passed (I'm no grammar nerd) it, but I'm no slouch either :) Something about bygones....

Alright well after watching the actual video...

1) Aim. Too many bursts to kill targets, keep practicing on the aim...

2) Cloak usage. You're still cloaking with the C2 mindset but you probably don't realize how VISIBLE cloak is in C3, especially in the first 0.5 seconds after pressing it. You cloak seemingly randomly, running in the open with your sides/behind exposed...if someone is already aiming in your direction (and someone is always aiming in your direction on open maps like that one) cloaking will only make you die instantly.
Plus you're undermining the whole point of having Auto Armor >_>

I was a huge cloak fan in C2 but in C3 I've almost completely stopped using it. Sometimes it's 100% invisible and other times it doesn't help at all, I can clearly see cloaked targets from a distance and proceed to kill them with 1 bullet and people do the same thing to me.

3) JAW. Good god man, what is that...some kind of ultra-noob kill guarantee? Put it away and force yourself to use your primary gun, or you'll never get good with it and keep falling back to JAW.

4) Use cover. Basic rule but not so easy to implement. You're using a scar+laser playstyle of running around aggressively at full speed in the middle of open paths and areas, that's not going to work with Grendel, try to cover your rear and sides with walls and move more carefully.
On small maps you can be more reckless with movement since there is so much cover, but not so much on bigger maps...

XD I have two different load outs;

One that has the retriever/surveilance/weapon pro style perks and uses grendel with match barrel using the traditional grendel approach sticking to medium distance.

The other with Rapidfire/Aim Enhance/mobility enhance and uses grendel with muzzle break and go in hard. The slightly faster burst speed helps with taking on scar users and makes the point fire a lot more viable. I crack that grendel like a whip and hit moving people with the point fire. Killing laser scar users with non-laser grendel point fire makes them flip out, though usually scar laser will have the advantage. I go in at all ranges, its just against scar + laser users i'll have to fall back. This is possibly me being weird. Laser doesn't really help grendel point fire for me.

Alright!

Initial thoughts: Swap auto armor for weapon pro. With a Grendel, that faster reload and ADS speed is stupidly useful: it allows you to constantly be prepared for engagements and enables you to acquire a target much more swiftly. Also, drop rapid fire. With the Grendel, you gain much more dps by learning the rhythm of the bursting than you do by equipping rapid fire.

From watching the vid, it seems that every time you get into an engagement you're simply firing as fast as you can at the target, rather than trying to control the bursting as I previously said. I think you'll find that if you slow down and think first about your aim and second about firing you'll find it easier to track and acquire targets.

I don't particularly care if you use a jaw, especially since you aren't using expanded arsenal hax =P

In general, with a Grendel you're going to want to run around less. Maneuverability is fine with it, but its use changes in that you use it to position yourself for each engagement rather than win engagements. If you see a scar laser runnin around like a crazy boy, don't run up to him to engage him, unless you're certain you can take him by surprise. If you can't do that, let him see you or find you and either
a) gun him down at past his optimal range or
b) gun him down as he tries to close with you.

Summary:
1) put on weapon pro, take off rapid fire (and preferably AA, but w/e)
2) learn to control the rhythm of the bursts
3) calm down and aim. you might need to lower your sensitivity for this.

once you do all those, you're ready to goooo
