Ahtar as a Follower

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 1:05 am

I've been trying to get Ahtar (executioner from Solitude) as a follower, however when I talk to him his only speech options are "You executed that man" and "When is your next execution?".

I'm wondering if I have to do a specific quest in order to be able to get the speech option to kill the bandits to get him as a follower, or if the speech option is supposed to be there from the very beginning and my game has somehow bugged.

Any help would be appreciated.

I can't believe nobody has a solution for this.

Somebody must know how the hell to get this guy!

On my second playthrough now and I still can't get him so I'm guessing it's not a bug.

Yes somebody please respond. I read on UESP that the option for his quest won't be there if you talk to Jaree-Ra and COMPLETE the quest "Lights Out!", but I have only talked to Jaree-Ra, I haven't done anything towards that quest at all. If just talking to him prevents you from getting Ahtar as a follower, than there should have been some kind of warning.

Yeah it seems a bit ridiculous that you would not be able to get him just because you talked to Jaree-Ra first (though I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case, seeing as just talking to some people will enter you into guilds or that you have to enter some guilds to complete some completely random quests... annoying).

That said I remember Ahtar being the first or second person I talked to in Solitude after the execution, certainly before Jaree-Ra, and even then he just had the same speech options.

I've seen people who have him as a follower, so it must be possible.

Someone's been watching Luz's stream, with Ahtar being epic as a follower.

I had talked to Jaree-Ra to start the lights out quest, and caught Ahtar walking from his house to the castle, and was able to get his radiant quest. Maybe trying different times of day or other days will provide the option.

OK, well at least I know it's possible than. Actually, when you talked to him did you get the "quest added" message for Lights Out, or did you just reject him? That could be the deciding factor.

sometimes radiant quests simply arent available. I dont think its a bug its just how it is. Try coming back in a few levels.

Level 50. The quest should definitely be available if it's level based.
