Aim Marker and Pipboy Colors

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 11:50 am

One of the parts that I had liked about FO3 was the optional colors on the aim marker and pipboy.
I've noticed that it's an amber color, and I'm just wondering if we can change it.
If it can't be changed, I'll probably be irritated throughout the game.

Off Topic: I feel awkward, haven't been foruming as much lately. Sorry if my posts are a bit stale/ungrammatical.

The HUD colour?
Don't think they've changed that.
Wouldn't mind more colours though.
Got tired with green, white gave me seizures and by the time I tried orange I had played the game so much it just want' fun anymore.

If it was like how it was in fallout 3 which the main menu and pause menu were green, then the main menu and the pause menu will be amber in New Vegas. You'll probably be able to change it in the options part of the pause menu. I think Obsidian did it to make the two games look different.

I think it's because of their theme.
Fallout 3 was green everywhere. So why not have the HUD green?
New Vegas will be orange everywhere, so why not have the HUD orange?

I think you should be able to change it, not sure about the HUD but definately the pip boy should.

And just one thing, while the Pip boy be the 3000a model like in F3?

I've used white for a long time. Never liked green. Used blue for a while but switched to white shortly afterwards.

I'm sure it will have the same options as Fallout3, the default will just be amber instead of green. I tried setting FO3 to amber a while ago to see how I would like it, and it worked for me. I'll stick with the default colour in NV just to have a different flavour from FO3.

New colors wouldn't hurt.

Pink, or purple could work.

I doubt they will remove the option to change the colors though. I was pleased to see the amber hud in the first gameplay vids for NV, since I've been playing with that same hue for the last year or so.

I'd use a Purple HUD, It'd really stand out against the orange backgrounds which I like. :tops:

From what I can recall Fallout 3 had Green, White, Amber, an Blue.

Purple and Red would be my top picks to be included in New Vegas. :tops:

Yeah red would be a beast to have.
I wonder why they didn't for fallout 3.

They had blue and green, yellow might seem to bright to fit, but red. Red would be perfect.

I'm no programmer or anything of that sort but does anyone know if its a hard thing to make the different color HUDs and put them into the game? :tops:

EDIT: My assumption is that it probably isn't but I don't know much about that sort of stuff.

I'd use grey, I think it will be contrasting enough to use and won't be to bright for the eyes.

Only problem will be underground and night time.

Does anyone know if we will be able to take away the center crosshair because it looked like in every gameplay trailer that when you looked down the iron sight the crosshair was an inch or so above where the iron sight is, that could really get annoying.

Yeah you can switch between those sights and true real life sights.

I wish they'd implement a RGB slider set for us to make our own colours. You know, because purple actually works really well for FO3 (I used it for months).

I think they didn't offer red because it is already used in the HUD for enemies--the ticks on your compass, the recticle when you aim at a hostile target, and the enemy healthbar. You wouldn't be able to tell friend from foe. Red is the one constant for all the HUD colour themes.

... How about turning the enemy on the radar to yellow? White? Blue? Less red like, pink?
