Personally, I find it harder to aim "down the sights", but I believe there's a mod that adds that. Or a beta, at least.

I use Alexscorpian's FPS weapon animations(which in is Beta). It adds ironsights, like most FPSs out there. Pretty cool. But, since you are on the PS3, you can't get mods. Sorry.

Edit: Oops, someone posted something bad in the pics.

I would definitely love this game more (if that's even possible, which I suppose it is) if I could aim down the sights. The only way I was ever really able to keep on playing was when I told myself, this is more RPG than FPS (and I'm glad I did). Aiming down the sights would be good, but since my accuracy is a result of the skill of the weapon I'm using, it isn't that big of an immersion killer. If my skill is low, my aim will still svck, scope/iron sight/laser/reflex sight wouldn't be anything other than eye candy.

Fallout 3 has VATS instead, which really fits its RPG foundation better than iron sights.

Personally I think iron sights would have been an odd addition to Fallout 3 but then I have to admit some bias since I never use the function when it is available.

Not all of the weapons in FO3 even have sights, do they? I can't say I've been paying a lot of attention to this. <_<

Oblivion doesn't allow you to use iron sights, but the zoom function you get with all non-scoped weapons serves roughly the same purpose, except you get a crosshair instead of iron sights, which i actually kind of prefer, ehile using the sights would be more realistic, I find crosshairs easier to aim with, which unless the game is going for a hyper-realistic experience where guns have realistic ballistics and you can only survive a fww direct shots to a vital area (and even getting hit in the leg is certainly not only a flesh wound.) I'd prefer to a bit of extra realism.

It Irks me much when I see someone ask why "Fallout 3" doesnt do something that...OhI dont know..."EVERY OTHER GAME" does....

Why does everything have to be the same? its refreshing to have a shooting system that isnt exactly like every other game.

I love iron sights. It's not a big deal for me that FO3 doesn't have it. Just doesn't seem like it would fit.

I think Bethesda should take a lot of notes from Borderlands to apply to the weapon system in Fallout 4.

I think iron-sights wouldn't be any good in this game, with the shooting in this game is just 'shoot them a bunch of times, or use vats', there's not much reason to aim.

Like, in STALKER there's a mod for iron-sights and for better ballistics, so you aim at someone and shoot them, they die. In this you aim at someone and shoot them a bunch of times to take them down. So it's pretty unnecessary anyway.

It wouldn't fit FO3's gameplay.

I wouldn't mind ironsights, but if they were implemented, I would want the weaponskill to actually have a clear effect on your accuracy and general handling of a gun.

Well I think Iron Sights is actually quite entertaining. Using the mod I found the game more fun yet it runs out fast... especially with mod weapons where the Iron Sight mod isn't made for those weapons...

It's refreshing to see a game with an *innovative* shooting system that *works*, and Fallout 3's is neither.

Yeahh, Half of the screen's usually taken up. Fallout's aiming gives you almost the whole screen.

wouldve meant a lot more work for bethesda to do on an already massive game. every gun would need a new animation when u pull up the sights and thats prbly a lot more work than it sounds like.

Companies say that because they want to be the only ones with an ounce of creativity.

thats not what I meant. I mean if sony gave bethesda some money I think it would be possible to download mods via psn store or something along those lines

Actually, it's Sony and Microsoft that forbids it, Bethesda itself has nothing against it. According to console manufacturers, allowing user-created (technically, any non-homologated) material is a potential security loophole. Which is true, actually, because it could allow you to eg change your records and cheat on the achievements, and we all know how important showing off those thingies is for (most) console users... -_-

EDIT: There's also the more palpable risk of piracy, though that's not so simple.
