Airsoft

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 10:40 am

So I've just been browsing through some sites looking at some airsoft guns, and felt a sudden urge to create a thread about it.

So, does anyone own an airsoft gun or ever go to any skirmishes? I'm too young to own one at the moment, but I am allowed to skirmish at a registered airsoft site, and plan on doing so soon.

I played for a couple years. I had a KWA M4 model AEG all metal runs about 450$ but I played with a large group called Airsoft Louisville. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVIKY08fkxw We have had massive events night games, indoor games at factories etc.

I had all the tactical gear, body armor vest etc, I had like 16 M4 magazines I carried all 100 bb's in them. Not all people get serious about it but it's extremely fun when you play with a group of mature honorable people who can abide by rules.

I played when I was around the age of 12 or something like that. We would just buy the cheap guns from Walmart and go play in the marshes. It was pretty fun back then.

I love airsoft. I haven't played for a long time, but I got into some pretty awesome skirmishes before. Never get a gun from walmart though. And don't think you are getting a good price for cheap. The cool looking ones with cheap prices say they are durable.... Bull spit...

Over here it is quite fragile due to the Violent Crime Reduction Act, there are strict laws that you have to abide by, but at least we don't have to have the orange tip on the end.

I've only ever used one once, and that was my uncle's http://www.airsoftarmoury.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=33&products_id=1052 on a Finding Nemo teddy.

Edit: It was an A4 sorry, and he kitted it to look like that one but he has an Aimpoint on the top of the carry handle.

Last time I played was a little over 2 and a half years ago.

Its fun, but I like paintball better.

Yea, we don't have to have a orange tip as well. I always remove my flash suppressor and use one I bought. Classic Army made good airsoft weapons then they released a more affordable series with plastic bodies but the same internals. My first one was a JG(Jing Gong) Tokyo Marui clone which meant it was plastic but was other wise the exact same as the Tokyo Marui. It lasted a good year never dropped in FPS, shot 350fps(which is our max on a automatic) consistently, went through a few batteries though.

Echo 1 makes a good gun at a decent price 200-300 and they're full metal they have had trial and error with their gearboxes and have put out much much much better stuff. I had a Echo 1 G36C that lasted forever as well.

CA sportline?

@Septim007 They are expensive for the good ones, but you can get cheaper ones for about £150, and plastic look-alikes for about £50.

Its fun... I prefer paintball though.

I bought a 150$ MP5 from Airsplat, it broke within 2 weeks. I never bought another gun.

Though, I was about to buy this http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=6677. Never got around to it.

I remember when airsoft was going to Walmart, buying a clear gun, and going out into the street and shooting our friends to death. Interesting to see the tactical, serious game it has evolved into. Me and my neighbor used to hide behind this big bush in front of his house and pepper every car that came by. We did it to a bus once, it stopped, backed into and knocked down his mail box and drove away.

I honestly in all the years playing airsoft don't understand why people care.. It depends. I have been shot in the knuckles during the cold games by guns shooting 350-400fps at close range and it HURTS. I have been hit in the neck, the face(we don't require full face mask, just full seal goggles) we had one guy lose a tooth from taking a airsoft BB to the mouth. We also also someone get pretty bloodied up from getting hit in the nose/face with a gas powered shotgun that fires a larger bb.

I would say paintball, but high powerful airsoft guns hurt just as much, if not more.

There honestly both not that painful, atleast after you've been playing for awhile. But I think paintball is more painful, especially at close range. I got shot by a kid ubering the field and running up the middle. about 10 feet away, right on my knuckle, I wasn't wearing my gloves either since it was in the middle of summer, I could see my bone. That was a freak occurrance though.

The big purple welts from paintball don't really hurt all that much either.

I've spent half my life being trained to use a weapon without pointing it at somebody, so it would probably require psychological deprogramming before I could do airsoft.

No. I hate anything like airsoft, lasertag or paintball for the simple reason I svck at it :P

However one of my best friends loves it. He's actually in the national airsoft federation and has a decent collection of airsoft weapons, some of which costed over 400 euros  He literally spends all his money on those thigns. On his birthday he got 600 euros, apparently he thought 2 weapons were a nice way of spending it...

I don't play personally, but I used to coach my best friends team for a while. We ended up doing well enough to get sponsored by the field we played at regularly(Free air, half price discount on cases of Paint, allowed to schedule private use of a field for free). Placed second at a fairly large paintball tourney, but unfortunately, shortly after that, some infighting on the team that I couldn't quell split the team apart. A few of the group still play once in a while, but at least two of the others have moved since then, so there is no hope of ever getting our team back together(Redneck Assassins we were called ^^). Really svcks that the in-fighting killed us, because we had some real potential to possibly go Amateur in a year or two. Just needed our Back Man to get a bit more experience(he was completely new), and one of our Mids into better shape(had experience, but needed to lose 10-15lbs so he could move quicker getting to the snake)

Edit: We were a paintball team, not an airsoft team. Sorry, noticed some people mention paintball as well in the thread.

I've got several cheapies. An M4 tactical aeg, shotgun, m1911 colt, berreta. Most expensive gun I have is the co2 Jericho pistol my buddy is afraid of it. Mainly because I ran into his house when he didn't know I was coming over and unloaded the magazine into him. Then I left.

Id rather play paintball, because you can't lie about being hit. I do play airsoft with my friends in the summer. My friend has a few acres of flat woodland, so we get about 10 or 15 people and shoot at each other for a few hours.
Currently I have a CO2 M9 pistol, and a pump action shotgun that fires 3 bbs with one shot. The other guns I have are all junk. I also managed to snag a ghillie suit for about 50 bucks, and that's come in handy before. The battles are reall fun, except that the equipment people have is unbalanced and not everyone is entirely honest about being hit. We used to just shoot at each other until someone said mercy, but everyone wearing thick clothing made it useless.
My friend bought an M249 SAW, but it fell apart because he took some things off and didn't reassemble it properly. He recently bought an AK103 but I haven't seen it in action yet.

I did have a spring Walther P99 that worked rather well, but my brother broke it somehow. The slide and barrel are missing.

I'm pretty into airsoft. I have 6 guns, including 2 pistols, 3 assault rifle, and a sniper rifle. I have well over $2000 invested including accessories for guns and stuff. If you live in the States, I'd recommend Airsoftgi.com. I get all my stuff from there, and nothing but good experiences. Here are some pics of my guns:

I've had a couple of airsoft guns, two pistols and a MP5. It didn't autofire but it was pretty accurate.
