Freelancer or full-timer, Beth is willfully contracting MK is to write lore-copy for them, then including that copy in the relevant games. It doesn't contradict or undermine Bethesda in anyway, ergo, I dare that it is the word of Bethesda.
What isn't relevant is the business/contractual side. I, for the life of me, can't see how this determines canonicity.
