Akaviri and Akavir

I was confused about these two things. I know Akavir is a conitinent east of Tamriel and all that, but who are the Akaviri? I always assumed that they had come from Akavir, but from something i read on Tamriels Timeline in the First Era on The Imperial Library, i have been kind of confused. It said "The entire population of Wayrest city is forced to move into the walled estate of the Gardners as protection against the pirates, Akaviri raiders, and Thrassian plague." If Akavir is in the east then why would there be Akaviri raiders all the way over in High Rock and why would they be refered to as Akaviri and not Tsaesci or one of the other races from Akavir?

Akaviri is a general name for all the sentient races of Akavir, but usually refers to the Tsaesci as they are the ones who invaded Tamriel in the first era. The reason they were in High Rock was because they didn't attack from just one point but harassed several provinces in the north of Tamriel. Reman ended the invasion and Akaviri were adopted into Imperial culture, in a way.

I'm not sure why you think Akaviri raiders are something other than persons from Akavir. Sure, they crossed a pretty big ocean to raid Tamriel, but it is what it is.

I also think I recall those Akaviri raiders being described as rodent-like folk. So there's that.
