What would have happened?

Dagoth Ur would have eventually come to wield complete god-power over all of Nirn. He would have spread as an unstoppable wave from Tamriel out over the rest of Tamriel, literally crushing or converting to his flesh anything in his path. All of Nirn would come to be directly subservient to his every whim has he took direct control of their minds, Akulakhan the herald of his dreams. The world would become static under the single mind and then he would then turn his attention to making his war with the gods, having conquered all mortals.

Basically, a giant flashing "GAME OVER" would have appeared in the skies of Nirn as Dagoth Ur obtained his own "I win" button... :nuke:

Interesting. The reason I asked is because the endings of Daggerfall implied that the Numidium was fairly defeatable by the Legions. So I was wondering if the Akulakhan would just be a "big weapon" or would be a decisive superiority factor for Dagoth Ur.

Numidium was powered by the heart of a pretty competant Battlemage only. That was why it was defeated by the Legions so easily.

Akulakhan was powered by the Heart of a God.

Akulakhan was powered by the Heart of a God.

So Akulakhan would have basically been indestructible unless someone attacked the Heart with Kagrenac's tools?

The imperials were not using the Numidium for the purpose it was intended, and thus, not to it's true potential.

Daggoth Ur on the other hand, already BEING a God-- would be able to invoke the Akulakahn in ways that Tiber Septim never even IMAGINED using the Numidium.

Under Ur's control, Akulakahn would re-write the world as he saw fit. Not just trample on cities and armies. It would deny the armies their very existence.

If Akulakhan was completed, Wraithguard would have already been in Dagoth Ur's hand.

And as weird nicely put, if Akulakhan had been completed no enemy would have been able to come near it.

So no one could attack the Heart.

We still don't know the full extent of the original Numidium's powers. It was said to not have been the god that the Dwemer and Tiber Septim hoped for, although it was still quite powerful. Although we do know that Akulakhan was going to be able to spread the blight.

Forgive me if I'm skeptical that a battlemage could power Numidium. Not when there was a snow demon-destroying underking.

I'm sure the heart of that Snow Demon of Kamal would have made a better Heart, but I doubt it would have given up it's Heart.

Don't forget the Numidium was used by the Dwemer to transcend to wherever they are. Which ever way you look at it, it's super special awesome.

I was actually referring to Wulfharth, the original Underking.

And fortunately for the rest of us, Dagoth Ur was not Kagrenac.

Ah, I misread. I thought it was "Snow demon-destroying everything." Stupid syntax.

That brings up another question.

Were the Tribunal and Dagoth Ur truly gods? Their power was entirely derived from, and dependant upon regular refreshment from, the heart of Lorkhan right? Dagoth Ur , and all of them for that matter, were not omniscient or omnipotent. Dagoth Ur didn't even really know if you were the Nerevarine or not. Neither did Vivec.

Omniscience and Omnipotence aren't the criteria for gods, that's the criteria for God. There are gods in TES (including Dagoth Ur & the Tribunal), but there is no omnipotent 'God' of Nirn...

Right we have to rule out any form of omniscience or omnipotence even for gods in TES. So.... excatly how much of an advantage would it be to have a "god", Dagoth Ur, personally commanding an invasion or military? How potent, but not omnipotent, can we assume him to be? Would no conventional army or Legion stand a chance? Or would there be a reasonable hope of defeating him?

Just Dagoth Ur alone, without his ash monsters and Akulakhan? Well, being a god does not give you military prowess; except for when it came to actually fighting Dagoth Ur wouldn't have that much of an advantage (unlike Vivec, who was also a General). Dagoth Ur has been beaten and killed before, the problem was that he kept coming back, and at the height of his power while he would be untouchable in battle and take out scores of the enemy, his army would fall around him.

The thing that would allow Dagoth Ur to win was 'his' army, legions of immortal monsters, led by something that would automatically allow him to defeat anything in his path mythopoeically and literally instantly...

Only the Heartwights could be reincarnated. The rest of them were killable. But either way, I doubt they could beat the Imperial Legion.

Ascended Sleepers and Ash Priests reincarnate too, if you ask them about it.

And Corprus was a mode of transmission for divine power. Given enough time, I'm sure that the monsters underneath Red Mountain would have perfected their own control of the disease and become just as formidable as the huge Imperial Legion.

The Ash Ghouls do not say they reincarnate, at least not at the hand of Dagoth Ur.

The soul of Dagoth Gares is among us. You have broken his body, but his spirit is with us in our waking dreams.

As for Ascended Sleepers, what they say is pretty confusing, although it sounds more like the Dreamsleeve.

You think what you do has meaning? You think you slay me, and I am dead? It is just dream and waking, over and over, one appearance after another, nothing real. What you do here means nothing. Why do we waste our breath on you?

But to me, the biggest piece of evidence is that the Ash Vampires, being Heartwights, can be reincarnated, but when they are "killed," Dagoth Ur becomes slightly weakened. But this only occurs with the Ash Vampires.

And either way, only the stronger servants become Ascended Sleepers and Ash Ghouls. Thost that cannon control it degenerate into Corprus beasts.

In war, disease is as deadly as weapons, to say nothing of disease wielded as a weapon. Maybe an able-bodied Legion would have their way with an army of corprus victims and ash minions, but eventually most would end up like the trooper who survived Ilunibi only long enough to die in hospital.

Exit Dogsbody, whistling "Onward Corprus Stalkers"

One high-ranking Ash Ghoul had that power. We don't know if he killed all the others with Corprus, but he's obviously a special case, as he not only has the power to give Corprus out at will, he also had words from Dagoth Ur himself. Not to mention that Almsivi could hold the bulk of Dagoth Ur's forces back, while they attempted no such thing when the threat of Imperial invasion reared its head.

That's because Dagoth never really tried to launch and attack (the Tribunal never had any 'bulk' to hold back), he was content waiting until he had his big-guns (afterall, what's a little waiting when you're an immortal). "Here's why he never attacked me: immortals can afford to be eternally patient." :ninja:

And there's no reason to assume that Dagoth Gares was that much more powerful (especially when he wasn't even an Ascended Sleeper); and you can't kill with Corprus, it's a disease not an attack spell...

Dagoth Gares was special because he had a message from Dagoth Ur himself AND of all the enemies in the game, he's the only one that can give you corprus.
