Alright, I think we should try and figure out who exactly Alcatraz is. All we know so far is from a few magazine previews, which seem to state that he is a "Marine Special Forces" guy. Do we have any confirmation of that, or follow up info? Does Crytech want to keep us guessing or do you think they'll post a bio of Alcatraz before release? Post here!

The only thing I would say about the character is that he appears to be black. I get this from his gait and general build although obviously it's hard to tell when he's wearing the suit. From that you can't really tell anything about the character. My wildest guess is that he could be related to Prophet in some way but again that's pretty tenuous.

He has this special ops kinda "codename" at least.... like psycho, nomad etc.. his name follows the same scheme..
So logically he is a member of the american army.. and also a member of a nanosuit special force.

I still think he's a Marine, based on the preview info, and I don't think he's supposed to have the suit, because C.E.L.L. is after him

His "build" - Crytek is probably using the same model for all nanosuits just like they did in the first game.

One thing strongly suggests afro-american background though, they named him ALCATRAZ. Imagine that on a rap cover or spoken in the voice of the first black celebrity that comes to your mind.

In all seriousness though, we know nothing about the story, nothing.

I know all of you have been overly dramatic and gay about how crysis 2 sux now, but its a beta so stop getting exited over your boners. anyway...

Some of you say that Alcatraz, the main character, is a black guy from the video. Im not being racist but he is definatly not black whatsoever. It is obviesly just the narrarator for that trailer and another character on the story.

Your thoughts on this?

PS: I want no consoles wars **** and no telling me how C2 sux and youve cancelled the preorder, i just dont care

so I dont think they gonna have all the main guys being black in the story

It's mostly console people who think he's black because they don't know anything about the first game short of Wikipedia. Anyways, I personally think Alcatraz is Nomad, too many subtle hints. Nomad was a white dude.

Maybe Alcatraz was a serving marine and Prophet has stolen the Nanosuit 2.0 & passed it onto him, somone he can trust.

You're a former delta force solder who is severely wounded in battle. Prophet (or crynet) pick you up and save you by putting your shattered remains inside of the NS2. That's how the nanosuit literally becomes a character. The name also makes sense - Alcatraz (the name of an island prison) becomes a suitable metaphor for the player character, who is imprisoned within the nanosuit (presumably, he can't live without it). Further pushing the alcatraz metaphor, you're also a lone faction between the humans and the aliens. The humans see you as some sort of mutant cyborg (the nanosuit is somehow connected to the aliens), while the aliens hate you because... well idk they just do.

You're joking....right? Please tell me you're joking. And there were pictures of Nomad. This picture came out in March 2007 under an article about Crysis confirming this Character as the protagonist nomad. I would try to find it but I don't have all night to look for an article almost 4 years old. Plus, what other white dude used the MOAC in Crysis? Only prophet and Nomad and obviously this isn't prophet.
