Alcatraz's Role?

Post » Mon Dec 03, 2012 8:07 pm

Did Crytek mention anything about Alcatraz's playline in C3? Are we still going to be one with him and Prophet? I don't know what I'll do without him, he was with me through the whole captivating campaign.

His voice is just so bliss.

Alcatraz IS prophet.
Prophet's stored mind got integrated into Alcatraz by the end of C2, remember?
Also, he probably won't speak MUCH, considering how he's a "hunter" and he's supposed to be all alone. I dunno, he might speak with Psycho.
We'll probably get all our voice needs with Psycho/co-op (hopefully)

I do remember but damn it, why did they make him sound like Prophet himself at the end? I mean, it's still Alcatraz's body and vocals, no? >.<
Crytek, consider keeping Alca's original voice and maybe make him say some lines here and there throughout the campaign? Wouldn't that be awesome?

Again prophet's memories, experiences,etc are"stored" in Alcatraz.
At the end of C2, you hear the words "Assimilation complete".Prophet is being integrated (or becoming a part of) Alcatraz in his mind. Which is exactly why Alcatraz saw and heard Prophet while he was unconscious after falling out of the spire and in the other parts of the game. Prophet "lives" in Alcatraz' mind.

He is still Alcatraz

Again, I know all that. What i'm asking is why in the part at the end when he answers Karl Ernst Rasch "They call me... Prophet", they use Prophet's voice and not Alcatraz's? (Would've also made a more bad ass ending)

Its because in the end its not Alcatraz talking (his larynx got busted by the gunship), its actually the suits voice synthesizer. and because its Prophet telling the suit to talk.... hey presto, Prophets chocolate coated voice.

Hope that helps

He USEDthe voice synthesizer. Remember, the suit was "growing" into Alcatraz and healing his wounds (Which includes his larynx). So, we may just hear Alcatraz talking during C3. And hopefully it'll be with the voice used in the C2 trailer.

the book makes mention of the fact that during the interview he is still using the synthetizer ...if the suit was gonna heal its vocal chords it would have done it by now. thing is....the suit thinks its systems are more efficient than Alcatraz body hence why most of his thinking happens inside the suit and why the suit is using "tracheas" to oxygenate his tissues and so on and so forth. The synthetizer is obviously more efficient than Alcatraz's voice box.....

Who's to say the suit didn't heal his voice box? Maybe he's just used to using it now. Plus C3 takes place about 20 years, so I'm pretty sure ALL of Alcatraz' wounds have healed by now.

And not sure what you mean by,"his thinking takes place inside the suit"

first off the suit is not healing the wounds the way you think. He even says the suit harvested most of his organs for Biomass and he believes that it may be doing that so he will materially never be able to take the suit off (as a response to Prophet taking it off and committing suicide). He says toward the beginning that the suit is adding processing power to his brain allowing him to access better words and making him more eloquent and perspicacious and so on

by the interview Alcatraz had probably had the time to NOM and recharge several times but his voice box is not healed yet and that is quite simply because the synthetizer is just better according to the suit.

Well, I haven't read any of the books or comics so excuse me if I'm missing some info but, the suit is supposed to make the user smarter, stronger, faster, etc. Which it does by fusing into the user. Prophet could take the suit off because of that black undersuit you find his body in during Crysis 2. That undersuit was preventing the suit from fusing directly into Prophet. Alcatraz doesn't have an undersuit, and because the suit is symbiotic it fused directly into him, which allowed the suit access to his brain among other organs. Regardless of his injuries if he took the suit off it would kill him because the suit is a part of him. Which is why the suit rejected removal during C2 when Alcatraz was captured, tied down and Hargreave was trying to remove the suit. I believe the synthesizer is fusing/merging or whatever you want to call into Alcatraz' voice box, and becoming his voice.

As for the suit harvesting his organs, the suit is doing most of his organs work such as supplying oxygen.

yes...the suit is basically healing only what the body needs to move...muscles...bones....it throws in some oh its own material to replace chunks that have been torn off. Everything else is just used for Biomass including the organs. Thing is that the suit really does not need to....the suit has the NOM function for it but it does not use it. Why? Because the suit wants it this way....if by the interview the suit has not replaced the vocal box it is not going to do it because the suit itself already has an "organ" for it...the synthetizer.

The under suit....I am not sure about it but it does not really meter as the suit is evolving

I do agree with crimzontearz somehow, it makes sense. However i still would love to hear a voice for him. Looks like Alcatraz was used as a tool for the suit and Prophet to save big apple. Which is kind of lame, why would you use someone that is pretty much dead anyways to save the worlds.
It's kind of lame.
Guess gonna have to keep my fingers crossed for more of the game in the upcoming months.
