Alcatraz's Voice.

Post » Sat Mar 21, 2009 11:32 pm

As you all may know Alcatraz's Character has had alot of time spent developing and really shows in the game.

No really we don't know what he looks like or what he sounds like, until now of course.

Some of you may be familiar with this trailer.

From 0:28 onwards is Alcatraz's voice, possibly cut from the game in the final build.

Somethings you forget over time and I only relaised this the other day.

Wasn't trying to make an insult, only humor that isn't funny in the least. :P

There are 2 more pieces of fiction being released, a book of the C2 script and a comic (if they haven't come out already, haven't checked as I don't read video game tie-in novels). Apparently in a comic written by Richard Morgan, that bridges C1 and C2, he goes onto explain that Alcatraz's lungs have been ruptured and that is the reason why he doesn't talk through the game. If there was a bunch of dialogue written for Alcatraz that was cut from the final game, that really is craptastic, I am beyond tired of the mute protagonist, and from what I've read so is Richard Morgan (he has a section of his blog dedicated to reviewing his favourite games, although it hasn't been updated in ages).

I think the reason why Alcatraz never talks in the game is because his lungs are punctured.

It's pretty rare for a design from the start of the project being exactly the finished project.

People change their minds along the way of development and this might have been changed too, besides I don't find this guys voice that interesting, Prophets voice however is awesome.

I don't know about the comic but the book (crysis:legion) mentions Alcatraz having a crushed larynx but nothing to do with lungs that i can remember. Still weird though how he can scream later on in the game but can't make any noise before that lol.
