alchemy,where to start?

Post » Thu Jul 21, 2011 3:10 am

have yet to delve into the mystical world of alchemy (it seems quite complex with all those retorts/morter,pestle e.t.c) what is the best way to start to learn how to do it (have glanced at a few books on the subject, but not really anything more yet) it seems a shame not to utilise those plants e.t.c that i pick up whilst on my travels.thanks in advance

You can find some recipes around the place, the main thing is to get your hands on all the tools and then punch in some ingredients. Your potions will fail at first, but you will get better.

You have to keep a mortar and pestle on you at all times if you want to make potions. I use a retort mostly once I get it because it seems to do exactly what I need. Selling potions early in the game is a great way to get some gold because you can find the ingredients for free just by looking around. I never had a potion fail in Oblivion. Just select two ingredients, or more if possible, and create a potion of your choice...it's not difficult. :) Then you can apply a poison to your weapon to help you fight too.
