Alcohol of choice

For liquor I like crown royal, or just whiskey or rye in general.

For beer, Pilsner all the way. Brewed right out of Alberta.

Don't drink.... I don't like the taste. I'll have the traditional half-glass of champagne at New Years (god, that stuff is vile  ), and every once in a blue moon I'll toss some Creme de Menthe on some ice cream (mmmm, mint. shame about that alcohol burn), but that's it.

(I was raised in a "European/German" manner - meaning, my sister & I were allowed to try alcohol in controlled conditions when we were growing up - try a sip of a drink our parents had, have a little wine with a fancy dinner, etc. So we grew up with alcohol de-mystified, rather than some Great Forbidden Thing? that we had to sneak and/or look forward to going nuts with when we went to a party/college/hit 21. And so.... we didn't. I've never bothered drinking at a party, I didn't hit a bar for my 21st birthday, I've never gotten drunk, and I've never been peer-pressured into drinking something I didn't want to. Personally, I find a lot of the crap that goes on about drinking to be totally irrational.)

None. Outside of Jim Beam's sunflower seeds. Those are good. Only a really tiny amount of alcohol in them, though. Beer can chicken is also great. If any of you haven't heard of it, it's made with a can of beer in the middle of it. The actual drink isn't in it. It's always really good when I have it.

My neighbor makes awesome beer can chicken.

Outside of when alcohol is used for cooking, I have no interest in it. I don't feel the need to drown any sorrows when video games do that just fine. I also don't have any interest in it outside of when it is used to cook something. I might try an alcoholic beverage out when I am 21, but unlikely. Besides, I probably would be at risk of developing alcoholism with my anxiety problems.

I've never had an alcoholic drink in my life, but it doesn't seem like much else but a drink. Feel the same about every drug, though. None of it is like a forbidden fruit. I grew up seeing what addiction to drugs can do to someone firsthand, so there's a reason I pretty much didn't need to be told not to do them.

Is it strange if I don't like alcohol? I'm twenty and it tastes like [censored]. I was at my uncles once and he offered me some Crown Royal. I didn't want to turn him down so I said yeah. My insides felt really hot, not to mention the bad taste.

That's not normal right?

Not at all! Everyone has their preferences, likes and dislikes :)

I bet you have other vices, though :)

Literally every bar I've ever drank at had Guinness. Maybe it's a coastal thing. Everyone with one-sixteenth of a drop of Irish blood feels duty bound to drink it every time we go out.

Well, Alcohol tends to feel warm in the gut, which is why you have a stiff drink on cold days. As for the taste, one alcohol doesn't taste anything like any of the others. Vodka doesn't taste anything like whiskey, Crown Royal doesn't taste quite like Johnny Walker, and so on.

It's up to you, plenty of people don't like the taste of alcohol. Personally, I'd mix it up a bit. I had to force myself to finish my first beer. It's an acquired taste. But never think that it's not normal to not drink. Teetotalers might get looked at with a bit of confusion from drinkers, but there's way more out there than most would think. Don't feel any sort of shame or guilt about not wanting to drink, and you should always feel free to turn down a drink. Just don't turn into a temperance preacher, and it's all good :P

Nah, you're fine. I don't like most canned beers for one. A lot of people here in the south LOVE Budweiser, but I find it tastes like piss. My personal beer preference is Heineken, but with any kind of alcohol, it's all about exploration. Try a drink and if you don't like it, you know you don't care for it.

I was a huge beer drinker once upon a time, but honestly I think Guiness is a terrible beer, i never understood why people like it so much (and i got irish blood in me). Just my preference i guess.

Because there really were no better options until the whole Craft Beer explosion a few year ago. I mean, what, we're really gonna drink Bud?

Oh, and marketing. To the max.

That may be. I do not go out to bars any more (at least a decade or more), so Guinness may be more common now :)

I recall living in Omaha, NE and wetting myself when a bar my Volleyball league frequented actually had Guinness in pitchers!

I grew up in Iowa, which was a 3.2 state. When I first had a Guinness and actually TASTED beer, I was hooked :)

Now that Iowa has changed, I still enjoy a Guinness now and again :)

Apparently the further you are from Ireland, the worse the Guinness gets.

Depends, sometimes I crave whiskey, sometimes beer. I don't drink cheap whiskey and beer either.

I don′t usually drink, but when I do:

during meals, red wine in the winter or fresh white wine in the summer; and a brandy or scotch afterwards.

When socializing I prefer something sweet, like a caipirinha or a mojito.

I think the worst thing I've experienced for causing a visit from Cardinal Chunder is that infamous Goth staple, snakebite and black. And a subsequent visit to one of the dodgy local take-aways was an assured way of making it a double-ended experience. ew.

In the spring and summer I like beers...pretty much anything good that isn't extremely mass-produced and flavorless. I have favorites, but I like most well-crafted beers, and in the summer I tend to not do the darker brews. In autumn and winter I'll switch to darker beers, wine, and whiskey (prefer a nice scotch). A really good cocktail is nice any time of the year. My usual is a vodka martini (not dirty) with olives.

I used to drink a lot more often than I do. Since my kid was born it's usually just once or twice a week.

:yuck: Sweet alcoholic drinks make me nauseous. Probably just a bad association because they tend to give me nasty hangovers.

Guess I should of said earlier I also don't mind the odd glass of Absinthe from time to time, can't afford another bottle these days (the good stuff is $300+ a bottle) but I've got an unopened one which I'm keeping for the end of the world.

I wanted to like Absinthe (so I could be cool and say I drink Absinthe, obviously), but I found it unbelievably bad. :yuck: I hate black llicorice and it hurt my stomach.

About to drink this Irish style brown ale crap. It's honestly one of the best beers I've ever had. The liquor store doesn't always have it, so I'll enjoy it even more because of that. It's expensive but worth it.

This is true.

The stuff they sell in the US isn't Guinness, no matter what they choose to call it.

I've been to Ireland several times, and I'm of the opinion that 1.) Guinness must only be served from a tap (never bottles or cans), and 2.) the Guinness served in the U.S. isn't all that much different from that served in Ireland provided the bar tender knows the proper way to pour it (the vast majority do not). If you order a Guinness at a bar in the U.S. and it's served from a well-serviced, clean tap by someone that knows how to pour it it's nearly identical. Before you ask, yes, I have a decent palate for beer tasting, and yes, I've had more than enough Guinness to know what it's supposed to taste like.

I haven't tried Absinthe, but do enjoy the taste of black licorice. Greek Ouzo is a great tasting liquor :)

Love me some beer. If I had to pick a number one it would be Hoegaarden. Paulaner(hefe-weizen) would be second. I can buy both here in Kentucky which is good because my other favorite beers Yuengling(Amber Ale) and all the New Belgium products I have to venture to Ohio or Indiana for.

Not a big liquor drinker but I did recently discover Wild Turkey American Honey with some Vernors ginger ale is amazing.
