Alcohol in TES V

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 6:33 pm

The thread about wine making inspired me to make this thread. It's a poll about what kinds of alcohol you'd like to see in the game. Here's a little information about the options mentioned in the poll:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lager
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stout

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitters

EDIT: Added http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porter_(beer) to the poll.

Most of these were in previous games, if I remember correctly. However, I wouldn't mind if they changed alcohol a bit - perhaps adding some visual effects (like blurring your screen if you drank quite a bit).

The more to drink the better, I always say.
Whoever says None is a moron. Nords without Alcohol, is like TES without the freedom.

Don't exactly see the point of drinking in a game, but alas, I'd collect myself some reds where it an option.

All of it, and then some. After all, we're talking about the hard-drinking Nords here.

Ales, stouts, porters (not in the list?), lagers, bitter. Those are just my favorite irl so...... yeah. Oh yeah, and mead, it must have mead. Wine too, I guess.

Most drinks listed make sense to put in the game, most have been used before and are an awesome feature.
Not sure they're all necassary, though as long as the common, mead, wine, ales and stouts are included I'll be happy.

Playing an alcoholic can be quite funny, actually. In FO3 I played one who later turned into a religious fanatic who terrorbombed Underworld. Great fun. It somehow gives you a goal in life - you feel exaltation each time you find som boose. I wish the surrondings would react more to it, though. More provoked barfights, and such. Would add to realism :foodndrink:

Skooma, homebrew (beer), and moonshine (hard liqueur). Things like alcohol is only there to add depth to the game, I don't find it crucial. But when it's there, it should have some impact, maybe even some quests related to it.

I believe that the important issue here is taste.

No matter how many different brews Beth comes up, how the plants / fruits are available, collected and then processed / chewed /stomped on /fermented / enchanted, the actual product must taste like the real deal. I will be extremely disappointed if we get a x amount of components, then drinks and they do NOT taste like in real life (or really close to it).

Who's with me?

...porters (not in the list?)...

They're basically mild stouts, but I'll add them to the poll anyway. :)

None. To be honest, I can't stand the taste of alcoholic beverages. What is it with humans and fermented stuff?

EDIT: can we have juices, maybe? And I'm a big fan of water, you know.

EDIT2: They can be magic juices. Um. That have alchemical effects. Yeah...

EDIT3: Wait! Tea! Hot Cocoa! Yes! Those are beverages!

I want it all. Heck I'd love it if Alchemy could be used to distill certain boozes and maybe have a skill for mixed drinks. Heck I'm going to go make myself a Mai Tai right now.(traditional one none of that sweet and sour crap)

I don't drink in real life but what would TES, especially Skyrim be without alcohol?!
Besides I like collecting wine...

I voted for all of them!
