[WIP]Ald-Ruhn Temple Expansion Thread 3

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 6:24 am

Sorry for the total lack of updates for quite a long while now...Lost motivation to work on it after I accidentially deleted the latest version, and then school started up again and all.

Anyways, I now have a properly installed copy of Morrowind - which means that it won't constantly crash, and this is very good =P

Also, I have decided to take a somewhat more systematic approach to this, instead of my usualy going from place to place to see if something needs updating...

As for updates, I have finished the Pilgrims' Hostel(small building) and finished my editing of the original temple building.

I promise I will try to work on this on a more regular basis now, but due to school I can't promise that I will have the chance ;)

I got stuck in some weird loop thing when I tried to download it. It said something like the user isn't allowed to direct link it and then a line saying something like 'go here to download' and it would lead me back to the first page...

It looks good from the pics and we will be just as eager for it when it is done as we are now!

Hmm, that's odd...I logged out, and tried downloading it, and then it seemed to work fine

Didn't have any problem downloading. I'll take a look later on this weekend.
I'm really happy to know you still work on this. :thumbsup:

Ok, so first off, wow. The amount of detail you put everywhere is just amazing. Something as trivial as a large hallway just looks beautiful, filled with stored furniture upside down and clutter. Everything looks like real people live there, with their junk laying around, not neatly placed in 90 degrees increments. It looks very real. Soot-scales' stand looks particularl awesome.

Small stuff I noticed:
- I did NOT get the Windows Glow error I had with the previous version. Three Windows Glow windows on Moyrvayn Manor are floatting in mid-air because the building was moved, but it's minor and can be corrected with the console. And anyway, Windows Glow cause similar problems with ANY mod that moves a building. But it might be good to mention as a small known conflict.

- At the West entrance, there are two banners on the pole outside the wall. I didn't notice it until a blight storm started and made them move.

- The upper most trap door in building #2 rotates. Looks funky. I guess it what trapdoors look like when they don't lead somewhere yet?

- The two NPCs in the main entrance of building #2 always end up standing right in front of the two doors on each side of the fresco. I don't know if something can be done about this?

- I thought it was funny, but I'm really not sure if it's meant as a joke or not. Buoyant Armigers have female clothing in their dormitory chests. Especially funny and noticeable with mods that adds frilly pink dresses in female clothing levelled lists.

- Talking about those cross-dressing Buoyant Armigers, there's a small typo in the note about the bucket. It's Buoyant, not Buyoant. Hadn't noticed this before.

Thanks, decorating and cluttering are both very fun to do in MW =)

The banners;
That's odd, I checked in the Construction Set, and there were no double banners - sounds like a saving/loading related bug, but I'm not 100% sure...

The trapdoor;
Ah yes, the trapdoor - I intend to add another level to that building, but at this point I have yet to actually make the cell the trapdoor leads to.

NPC's in building two;
They have a bit of wanderlust xD I intend to lower their rate of movement to fix this.

Cross dressing Armigers;
Ah, I often have issues deciphering what the heck the ID's mean, and since I was never aware that MW had gender-separated clothing chests and the like, I never made the connection from the "f" in the ID to "female"...Easy to fix though.

Typo;
*fixes*

I need names for two of the new cells...The largest building*, and the underground area/Armiger barracks**...Any suggestions?

*It serves as the administrative headquarters of the Ald-Ruhn temple, as well as featuring a storage room or two
**Underground tunnels connecting the various parts of the Ald-Ruhn Temple, as well as featuring the Armiger barracks

For the building maybe "Suprvisory office", for the underground area.. I don't know... "Underground corridor", or name it simply "Armiger Barracks"?

Well, "Supervisory Office" sounds okay, but I'm not too sure if it sounds like something a Dunmer would make up...As for simply naming it "Armiger Barracks" or "Underground corridor" - I've considered it, but thinking about possible dialogue and quests, it might get a tad too confusing if it refers to one of them. I mean, if you're asked to go talk to Person X in the underground corridor, but can't seem to find the right place because there's no cell named "underground corridor" or something like that. (if the cell is named Armiger Barracks)

I am open to more suggestions - and thoughts considering the suggestion already given =P

"Temple Affairs Office" sounds quite perfect, unless anyone else has an ingenious suggestion, this will definetely be used =D

As for the tunnels..."Temple Tunnelworks" could work, still open for more suggestions though!

Thanks ^^

Oh, and another thing - can anyone think of a fitting title/class(a new one, I guess) for Gamdram Roryn? For those who don't remember him, he's the guy in charge of well, "temple affairs" - the lord of temple paperwork to put it bluntly :P

If we're looking for something 'glossy', perhaps "Arbiter" or something like that?

For a more mundane look, how about "Curate" (although that is already a Temple rank, I suppose)?

Objection! Mr. Godot, do you have any evidence to back up your claims!? :o

Erm...Anyways, what exactly would Arbiter mean in this connection anyways? I've heard the word, but I have no idea what it means xD

And yes, Curate is a Temple rank

an arbiter is sort of like a judge, where their judgement is considered the authority.

my suggestions would be a scribe of sorts, like "Temple Clerk" or "Temple Scribe". maybe fancier he would say he's the official "Temple Cleric", as cleric is the root term for a clerk.

Okay...

The office will be named:
"Temple Affairs Office"

The tunnels will be namd:
"Temple Tunnelworks"

Thanks for two very nice suggestions abyssmal terror =)

No-one have reccomended a title I like for Gamdram yet though - but at the moment, it's a tie between Temple Clerk and Temple Scribe

Wow great idea! And it looks very well done Xeth-Ban! Fits in with the rest of the town and yet stands out wonderfully!

I can't wait for the release of this mod!

Temple chronicler?

I'm not sure if "chronicler" fits all that well with his role though - a "chronicler", as far as I know, is not someone who spends their time doing economical paperwork, listings and so on.

how about "Temple Steward"?

Hm..Best one so far, seems to fit his role quite well =)

Interior/Exterior work at around 80-90% completion! There's still quests, dialogue and the scrips connected to those, and some other details, but if all goes well, and I have time, this may be completed before 2009 =) No promises though.

This mod might get put on temporary hiatus for a week or two in a month or so - because I intend to release an update of Christmas Manor this year, just so you know.

Aravy Saran is a former member of the Morag Tong, and this - coupled with his rather "scary" looks, often make people rather afraid. However, he is actually a very gentle spirit, despite what his looks my suggest. Is currently undertaking the Pilgrimage of Seven Graces

http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o133/Xeth-Ban/Morrowind/My%20Mods/Llaala.jpg
A relative of Aravy Sarayn who is undertaking the Pilgrimage of Seven Graces with him. There is little about her that sticks out, apart from the fact that she has green eyes (some Imperial blood in there...)

http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o133/Xeth-Ban/Morrowind/My%20Mods/GamdramRoryn.jpg
The "bureaucrat" for the Ald-Ruhn Temple - handles paperwork, economy and other things like that. Highly systematic.

http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o133/Xeth-Ban/Morrowind/My%20Mods/Rlano.jpg
The assistant of Gamdram Roryn. Is rather tired of his tedious job, not to mention his boss.

http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o133/Xeth-Ban/Morrowind/My%20Mods/Soot-Scale.jpg
Soot-Scale is an Argonian slave employed as a smith at the Ald-Ruhn Temple. The leader of the local Armigers bought him during his travels long ago, and they were traveling companions for some while. Soot-Scale is an excellent smith, and cares for little else but his work
