Alduin might've won if he waited 5 minutes

Post » Thu Apr 23, 2015 11:24 am

At Helen, the dragon born was captured, about to be executed, then boom alduin shows up and allows his/her escape, basically insuring his demise. And why exactly attack Helgen in the first place? Did he know the dragon born was there and if so, why not target them directly instead of just causing havoc?

But as my title suggests, if he had only waited a few minutes, the dragon born would've died and he would've eaten the world or whatever. I don't know if this topic had been discussed or not, but I thought it a good one.

If he'd waited, something would have delayed the execution, or another prisoner would have been next. You can't change what is written in the Elder Scrolls, unless you're Corvus Umbranox.

It would have been a rather short game. ;)

Yeah, the topic has been discussed, but the reality is that there's rarely a completely new idea around here. :D

If you ask Arngeir whether there's a connection between yourself and the dragons returning, he'll say there is. I suspect that Alduin saves you without intending to, because he is bound by that connection. Or some such.

I guess he sensed something in Helgen, but couldn't point out exactly the source of the power in that bundle of humans, so he decided to destroy it all.

If you think about it, anyone who kills the Dragonborn in-game would be somewhat directly responsible for the destruction of the world. Wonder if they'd regret it

Tell that to my first Dragonborn. Alduin fried her to a crisp at Helgen. :D

We've never come to a consensus about why Alduin appears at Helgen. There are almost as many theories on the subject as there are posters on the forums. I'm inclined to think that both Alduin and the Graybeards may have sensed the presence of a Dragonborn in the world on the day we were born. But they do not yet know who the Dragonborn is. We announce our presence to both when we slay Mirmulnir.

He was building strength by eating the souls of fallen soldiers. If the war ended, his supply would drop. So he intervened and Ulfric escaped. Attacking Helgen was a good idea. Attacking a second before the player character's execution wasn't. I'm guessing he didn't know the Dragonborn was there.

Also who knows there might have been another Dragonborn.

Was the Dragonborn the Dragonborn at the time of Helgen or was it when He/She first absorbed a Dragons Soul.

You can't absorb the dragon's soul if you're not dragonborn.

But look at it this way, if the Dragonborn died, no one would be there to stop Miraak from coming back.

When Miraak escaped Mora's realm, he would have inevitably had to fight Alduin, this time around. Miraak the Unwilling Hero!

Who knows, he might have had a change of heart, if people treated him as a hero, haha.

But could Akatosh have granted the gift of being a Dragonborn without being born with it.

Akatosh might have picked him/her at the time Aldiun attacked Helgen and saved the character. Akatosh is a God of time, and that was great timing for the Dragonborn.

Or it might have been Talos. Your dragonborn might be the result of Tiber Septim coming back to Nirn in your body, enraged at the Nords fighting over his divinity, and intentionally appearing at the time of Skyrim's greatest need. :)

you can't absorb a Dragon Soul unless you are already a Dragonborn. you don't just "become" a Dragonborn, you are born with the soul of the Dragon, thus Dragonborn

well, with the exception of Mankar Cameron, who somehow used the knowledge of the Mysterium Xarxes to be reborn as one..

its safe to say there were not any other Dragonborns aside from Skyrims Playable character in the 4th era, the Prophecies clearly state us as "The Last Dragonborn".. now that Alduin was sent home Until the proper time to end the world arrives, and Martin's sacrifice make the Dragonfires Completely obsolete (not that they could be lit anyways since the Amulet of Kings is gone), there is no reason for further Dragonborn...

all the roles Dragonborn's once held have been fulfilled, so there is no reason for more to appear... now Shezarrines, thats another matter

Everyone sees different things, but they are all true. Even the falsehoods. Especially the falsehoods.

...Or something like that said the Orc librarian. Every possible future until the foretold event has passed, then it only has what actually did happen.

As far as i know disclaimer applies, of course :hehe:

I think that's the best explanation on the matter i've heard. Al is obviously not omniscient, so ensuring his own doom with that attack was an accident. And somewhat hilarious at that :hehe:

I still think the Last Dragonborn was both Dragonborn and Shezarrine. it would explain why Shors throne lay empty and we are able to sit upon it..

Alduin is a good dragon who intentionally saved my elf. It will be a cold day in Oblivion before those Imperial humans try to behead my elf again! In gratitude, she has done everything she can to help the dragons. She would certainly never reveal their sacred burial sites to the humans! Unfortunately, there is only a small amount that she can do to repay that brave dragon who saved her.

Disclaimer: Hey, I paid for the game so it's my story. And my lore. :D

I hope she has fun with the dragons. Mine just leave them be unless they're burning down the villages he/she are in or trying to kill him/her specifically.

As for Alduin, well, as others said, the prophecy of the Elder Scrolls. If that person had gotten whacked, then he/she was simply not the Dragonborn. Or if Alduin hadn't arrived at all, something else would've intervened (say a Stormcloak rescue army invades Helgen to bail us all out) to save the Dragonborn. The Elder Scrolls/Akatosh would not create the Dragonborn just to let him/her die at the hands of humans. Our guy/gal was going to be saved no matter what. Be it a giant world-eating dragon or a frightfully convenient arrow shot to the executioner's neck, this one ain't dying in Helgen.

I can't see a world controlled by miraak much better than a world destroyed by alduin, which is why I didn't incline to mention him.

We can also sit in every Jarls throne but we aren't the Jarl. I do like this theory though.

'Tis not the Elder Scroll that was changed, it was the Elder Scroll that effected change. It undid the daedric curse on the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal. Corvus basically used the Elder Scroll to divine the true name of the Cowl's original thief from a record that the daedra cannot hope to alter, and in effect undid the curse. Capital!

except the Jarls are not gods, Shor is and as such you need some sort of divine connection to sit on his throne, plus why else would Shor be missing from his own halls?

just like how in Shivering Isles, you were not able top sit upon the Throne of Madness until you finished mantling Sheogorath

The LDB is most likely a Shezarrine as well as Dragonborn, after all many of the suspected Shezarrines were also Dragonborn (or at least, said to have the power of one)

I didn't know you could sit at the throne in Sovngarde. Interesting...

Is Miraak truly a such bad person, though? His greatest recorded crime was to rebel against the rule of the dragons, and I'd wager the dragons weren't such great masters to the humans to begin with. He did that by using the power of the Black Books, and becoming tethered to Mora as a result. He rebelled against his masters only to unknowingly become a slave to another one.

And then he controls the minds of the people of Solstheim to work on Solstheim's Stones, so he could channel their power for his return. He never harmed any of them, though.

He tells the Dragonborn his greatest wish is to be "master of his own fate" again. Was he really out to rule the world?

Interesting. My Dragonborn Jensa was told this: http://i.imgur.com/i0buExD.png

She didn’t try to sit in Shor’s chair, though, simply out of respect. It’s Shor’s high seat! I guess she doesn’t want to get turned over his knee after her count of days has ended and she gets to meet him.

strange, as far as I know there is No NPC in the game with the name of the person who is talking in that image.. plus, no one in Sovngarde wears blades armor
