A DLC which was just fun... like Old World Blues... But yeah...
Aliens are a fun little part of Fallout. The fact that they've been sitting out there in space watching mankind destroy itself is somewhat hilarious to me. They could probably have nuked a few sites from space themselves, if they so pleased. Beth making a DLC containing aliens would make them canon IMO, intentional or not.
Your argument is logical, I just don't find myself pleased with the conclusion.
As MANY members of this board have said, Aliens were perfectly fine as little neat easter eggs. After all, Fallout is extremely goofy. As a main plot point... I wouldn't like it. For me at least, one of Fallouts most enjoyable themes is the political scheming, power struggles, and other assorted human affairs.
I guess I'm just not interested in Aliens being integral to the Fallout story. Which is entirely my preference though, and shouldn't be taken as anything more.
Main story line, definitely no, but a side quest would be fun. Persuading the aliens to take your side would be cool =D
Also, your siggy...Jon Snow also knows nothing. He's a Socrates fan it would appear.
I'd be okay with it I guess. I'd like to see abominations again, creepy enemies.
It would have to be tastefully implemented for me to be okay with it. All we have to look at right now is MZ, which was too rich for my blood.
For all I know, gamesas might include aliens and knock it out of the park. For now, I will remain skeptical.
Jon Snow had a hard life.
I like the aliens. They fit in with all the bad sci-fi, Area 51, atomic age, moon man, etc. stuff that is part of Fallout's lore/background.
They're good. I don't want them to become plot cancer though. They aren't that interesting. I like them to be sort of hidden away.
They've always been a random encounter or side thing, would prefer to keep it that way.
There is that guy in Zeta that offers up the Launch codes to the Aliens. of course they never really talk back to him.. just each other.
Im more inclined to think a ZAX went rogue and launched first after running some calculations.
I've never thought about it that way. I suppose the mystery of what the aliens were actually up to doesn't show itself and thus, makes their presence in FO3 non intrusive.
yeah remember that info, thing is don't think the aliens used it, seeing as the great war was happening... it is more likely that people launcher the nukes or a computer malfunction happened then it is for the aliens to have launched them seeing as all they ever really did was study people hell all the things they where doing in that space station are things we do to some animals to see how they tick.
Plot Twist, the world governments used the Nukes to try and ward off an invasion, and like Independence Day, the Nukes did squat. Not just squat. Deflected back.
I never once felt like aliens should have a place in the Fallout universe.
This is irrefutable proof of extraterrestial existence.
Well Aliens are canon in Bethesda's Fallout since they appear in F3 and the DLC so with the concept art I'd expect to see them in some form.
As for what started the Great War, I've always thought the US successfully invading mainland China was a pretty obvious reason, never mind the shadow government, Chinese agents and saboteurs etc.
I personally don't have much interest in aliens. I didn't do any of the alien stuff in FO3 and never used Wild Wasteland in NV.
So long as it's not anything major like, as Marss pointed out, aliens were responsible for the Great War and/or the whole plot is about aliens, I don't really have a problem with them. Little green men were the staple of sci-fi space genre in the 1950s. Let there be another alien DLC, let us have an alien companion who came to learn and study the Earth and mankind. I actually liked the Mothership Zeta DLC. After hours of romping around a post-apocalyptic setting, it was a refreshing break to play around in a spaceship.
OMG, I want to explore Area 51 in a Fallout setting SO BAD!!
The aliens in the first Fallout game are not an Easter egg. How would they be? The first game establishes that aliens exist and that they are the source for a powerful piece of weaponry that you get to use.
I for one look forward to aliens finally getting more screentime as it is long overdue. Aliens simply improve everything. And for a combat heavy game then an extraterrestrial enemy who you don't have to feel any empathy for as they are trying to kill all humans is great cannon fodder. With humans you can always take a step back and go "man, if these people didn't make certain life choices then they might've been alive today and living in a civilized town instead of lying in bits and pieces around my feet." But with aliens you don't have to feel bad whatsoever. They're a fantastic enemy, better than zombies even.
