Aliens in Concept Art

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 2:33 am

Sorry if this has been posted for but I've seen speculation on whether or not aliens will be in Fallout 4 and while rewatching the E3 conference found this at 1:03 in the conference video and found concept art for them again at 1:30

https://youtu.be/1t_YHgo_HN4?t=63 <-- 1:03

What do you guys think? In what way will aliens be involved in Fallout 4? Possibly being studied by the Institute or a less canon way?

My hope is as cut content or at the very most an Easter egg.

Random encounter, or not in the game at all. They've already declared Mothership Zeta non canon IIRC.

actually that declaration was proven false.

also ever fallout game and I mean every one has had aliens in them, any lore junky will tell you that aliens are actually a key part of the fallout lore and have been sense fallout 1.

True, but they've had different presences in each game (FNV: only showed up using Wild Wasteland, F3: Entire DLC)

Perhaps that's just my bias getting in the way of facts.... I don't really like the aliens much, beyond the random encounters... The best thing to come from Mothership Zeta were the weapons.

Personally I think they struggled with valid DLC for FO3 and then decided to expand on the idea of their crashed scout ship. Thus we got Mothership Zeta. Which is surprising because both the Pitt and Point Lookout were pretty darn good ideas (my favorite of the DLCs release for FO3 being Point Lookout)

To be honest, they have 'done' Aliens. I dont mind finding some alien power cells, but I really dont want to be seeing Aliens again.

Having said that, I have no issue if we come across the corpse of an Abomination or one attacks us at random in the Wasteland. Maybe some were transported down to the surface, but Id prefer them to be an unknown.

What? They have been non-canon Easter eggs in every game outside of Fallout 3. They have nothing to do with Fallout lore outside of Mothership Zeta.

Hell the Mothership Zeta DLC even contradicts Bethesda's Fallout 3 intro and game. It may have never been declared canon or non-canon, but it sure as hell has never been a key part of Fallout's lore in any game.

Yeah no. Aliens are not, and have never been, a key part or a focus in Fallout's lore. They were nothing more but an easter egg in all Fallout games besides Fallout 3 when Bethesda made a DLC out of them. That's it.

As for this concept art, I also hope it's simply a cut idea from the game, or at the very least appears as an easter egg as it always has been.

I love it how even mentioning Aliens just triggers the Nerd Rage. They just can't handle it. They can't even.

Oh it goes far beyond mere disagreement. There's a passion in their words and their inflection. It's so...fiery. So...Passionate.

I don't know about a "key part of the fallout lore" man... Present? Sure, I suppose. Not a key part.

Didn't Todd or someone say "We have some figures..." regarding the Aliens?
I know it's vague, and I am far to lazy to sift through everything for 1 second of content. But I got the impression that the drawings were for a figurine, or something. Like the dinosaurs and rocketships in NV.

Nobody of any real importance has ever said anything to suggest that aliens are relegated to the realm of easter eggs. The difference between the King Arthur, Doctor Who, Godzilla, etc. references and the crashed UFOs is that whereas the former three are clear pop-culture references, aliens are a concept. Personally, I'm fine with a limited alien presence; the Alien Blaster is a great little find. The fact that aliens exist in the Fallout universe should not be this controversial. Aside from Mothership Zeta, they were never intrusive.

Oh goodie! I love aliens. I hope we get to see them around and, of course, kill them with impunity.

I'd bet there are Aliens in the main quest line and there will be an option to have an Alien companion.

Personally I don't mind there being a ship somewhere, or finding just an alien blaster somewhere with limited ammo, maybe some sort of encounter with wild wasteland too but that's it.

I honestly think they only made MZ because of all the posts and vids on forums/internets moaning about the lack of ammo for the blaster. Someone decided to appease all those people but they didn't fully think through the repercussions of making an alien dlc within fallout lore, sometimes it feels like everytime mothership zeta is mentioned it devolves into an argument :(

Unfortunately I can see more alien quests coming as aliens in this setting appeal to casuals, and from skyrim I assume Beth is moving towards a more casual market and it paid off for them so that leads me to think more aliens.

I might be wrong in everything I've said though so hey ho

I think what we see in the original games is more than just Easter Eggs. Skynet was developed from "alien technology." He was the first "thinking" computer. Then a few years later, we see the development of the first Zax computers or "self awareness" computers. Places like Skynet and Boulder Dome researched biogel, cryogenics, cyberbrains which wouldn't have been possible without the aid of theses computers. So indirectly much of the technology seen in Fallout can be attributed to this "alien technology." Both Boulder Dome and SAD were Enclave installations(Skynet receives his final orders from his "makers".)
