I am wanting to switch from console to pc and today i just heard about this, its similiar to a console in many ways but you download pc games from steam or something, can one of the almighty pc users give me their opinion on this sort of hybrid creation for running skyrim and getting to use mods.

I wouldn't buy it.

Its a low-end gaming PC, in a desktop form factor (remember those), with limited/no ability to upgrade. Manufacturers also provide support for SteamOS (when released), currently they come with Windows 8.1 (upgrade to 10).

If you only have <700USD to spend or need a gaming PC will a very small footprint, maybe it will be worth it, because unlike most other pre-built PCs of that price range, it will actually run games. Otherwise save up money and get a proper gaming PC.

Again, its just a PC. The hybrid moniker is BS.

That's difficult to explain....Should you buy it or not ???

If you wanna a living-room gaming system perhaps, then maybe...

Or maybe because your never purchased a gaming PC before. It will ease you into what's possible in PC gaming.

So, a tough question to answer. !!! You can easily build a PC for not much more and have better performance out of it.

Of course, it wouldn't be so compact and stylish as the Alienware Alpha.

I thing that review says it all: http://www.argyllfreepress.com/2015/08/17/alienware-alpha-review-gaming-console-pc/
