All about Races

I think people are going to vote Dunmer, simply because they where the first alien race to be fully explored. We should really not count that. Think about the potential lore to the other races.

My favourites would be the Nords. Just plain awesome. Based on some really interesting Earth culture and mythology, and they seem to be great noble people with a good sense of honour and morality. (Though they can hold a grudge for too long). They also seem to relfect all of what I like about Hircine. They like hunting, respect nature and have some amazing smithing skills. Perhaps not as durable as the Orcs, but definatly very stylised.

I don't like the Imperials. don't get me wrong, I love to hate them, and want them to remain, but I hate how they feel the need to ruin other cultures, and assimilate people into thier own. They destroy civilisations with no honour or mercy, and they cheat. Numidium. Who uses a "Brass God" to destroy all who opposes him? Rubbish. Regardless of Tiber Septim being a Nord, he stood for the Imperials and the Empire. I think of him as an Imperial. He's a cowardly honourless dictator.

lol I like the imperials for their power, structure, and advancement to society among other things, I also like the nords or atleast the ones I encountered in morrowind and solstheim and hircine is one of my favorite daedra princes molag bal being my favorite.

I guess we don't need any more elves, we have a quite wide selection of them already, same humans (nord, imperial...) also we have some exotic ones khajiit, argonian. Whats left? My answer would be orcs, they are too alone in the elder scrolls games. They need some similar race, for people who dont like green color ,but like that wild look they have. My suggestion would be some orc and elf hybrid ,but without that too liberal elf face or too dumb orc face. Something like comanche indians, untouched by civilization and 9 divines :D

The orcs in morrowind didn't look dumb I don't know what possessed Bethesda to change them into morons.

I felt orcs are too pedestrian in both morrowind and oblivion, Nords seem tougher.

Sure the orcs are no mindless brutes and embraced civilization, but I would expect them to be more warrior like and perhaps a little bit feral, they should be the most brutish from all races and its really not showing very much.

Redguard culture seems to be completely ignored aside from the occasional book you might read. I never heard any NPC talk about redguard culture I think, they appear more like token black guys in the game and that is a shame. I would love to see redguard armor and weaponry into the next game. I wonder what it looks like.

Orc is my favorite, but they could be more like Gorbad Ironclaw to their nature.

Least favotire is a split on argonian and khajiit.

I have a love-hate relationship with Altmer, so I voted them as both favorite and least favorite. I'd also love to see the tsaesci in one of the games, either playable or npc's.

If I understand it right, then Orcs are mer. Sure they are not the prettiest of merfolk but they are still mer, or more specificly they are orsimer.

I like the Argonians, because they're so exotic and interesting, and their lore is extremely different from anything common (sentient tree licking?)

However, I also like the Imperials. They remind me of the Roman Empire. Sure, complete jerks to cultures outside of their own, but they keep order, spread higher culture, and the fact that they were able to conquer all of Tamriel despite being one of the weakest races both physically and magically is an impressive feat.

What's with the hatred for Bosmer? Not cool mang.

Anyway my favorite would be the Khajiit with Bosmer at a close second.

My least favorite would be the Altmer.

I chose the most feasable choice for an added race, the Imga. They seem like the only race we would likely see as playable, from what we know now. Right behind would be the Sload as they seem intelligent but would be hard to implement into the game as a player character. All I really know about the Tsaesci is from 2920 with the potentate and his son and all that. I don't think we will see many playable Akaviri races in the near future.

I said no to new races, mainly because I would like Bethesda to focus on and develop the current ones.

I see Imperials as "jacks of all trades" types, and often play one. They're "marginally decent" fighters, "adequate" mages, and "mediocre" thieves, but they're not actually "bad" at anything they set themselves to accomplish. I envisioned the one character as a slightly "rogue-ish" and eccentric "philosopher/fencer" that dabbled in many different things but mastered none. Sometimes it's good to be able to talk, not just kill everyone in the game to get what you want. Unfortunately, OB didn't really do much of anything with that enormous potential, in the midst of the political, cultural, and economic center of the Empire. You can take an Imperial character in any direction that the game leads you, rather than "designing" a character for a specific role. First choice.

Argonians in MW were interesting, and I made a couple of Argonian "hunter" characters (and an "abolitionist") that were fun to play. OB turned the beast races into ordinary men/mer with Halloween masks, and took away any sense of uniqueness to them. Tied for second choice with Dunmer.

Dunmer were versatile, and I enjoyed the slightly different attitude and set of strengths and weaknesses, as well as the cultural aspects (and voices) in MW. OB made them "just another type of elf".

Redguards and Bretons were more specialized for either combat or magic in both games, but the hair style selections in MW were awful for both, while the Redguard faces looked distorted somehow in OB, and the obscene noises that the Bretons in MW made when hit were almost enough to make me delete the character. No other problems with playing either; alright, but not "favorites".

Altmer make the most powerful yet most vulnerable characters in the game, but their extreme strengths and weaknesses tie them into specific roles. Great for a single playthrough, but not enough versatility for my liking. Not overly impressed with the attitude, either.

Kajiit proved interesting for a while, but I'm not all that much into outright thievery in the games, and they're TOO specialized at it (played one for a while, but got bored with it).

An Orc character was amusing for a while, as a pure "tank" type fighter, but I got tired of that too, after a while.

Bosmer were just not my types of characters, sorry. Deleted the character after only a couple hours of "squeek, squeek" noises and annoying gameplay.

Never had any interest in playing a Nord: kind of like an Orc, only more self-important and annoying.

I wouldn't mind seeing a token appearance by a Sload in the game, but PLEASE don't make them playable. Some of the listed races are exremely rare or unusual, and making them a playable character would feel totally out of place when the NPCs don't seem to bat an eyelash (or a leathery eyelid for Argonians) upon meeting one. Halfbreed races are also contradictory to the established lore, and would add a huge additional burden on the devs to create all of the possible combinations.

I want Ayelid and possibly Dwemer playable and the 4 Akaviri Races non-playable. Maybe a random Sload non-playable, but I didn't vote for that.

Dunmer are my favorite race.

As far as half races, not playable half races but having some NPCs being mixed could work and be interesting.

I like Wood Elves the most, Orcs the least and I want to see the Falmer, the Ayleids, Sloads, the Ka Po' Tun, the Kamal, the Tang Mo and the Tsaesci. So basically mostly the Akaviri races would be interesting to see. Not necessarily playable, but why not. I think it'd be interesting to get more races. I'd especially want to meet a few Sloads and Tsaesci, even though I'd never want to play one. :P

No to half-races. IDK why. I just don't want them.

Although the Sload seem interesting, I think they'd be totally lame to play as. Just look at their concept art... Nobody's gonna want to play as that thing.

Well, I guess I'm Nobody then. :slap:

Argonians are my favorite. I don't really have a least favorite, but Khajiit are the only race I've never actually played as.

All in all, I wouldn't mind seeing the Akaviri races emerge in TESV in a bid to dominate the newly disintegrated Empire. I don't know how I'd feel about playing as one, though. It would be cool, sure, but issues of balance are at stake.

Oh I love Argonians! They are nice folk, they might seen cold from outside, but their tales and stories always makes me happy. I also love their sense of humour, something about the way they talk without expressing too many emotions while telling jokes makes them sound really crude and funny. Dark humour at it's best!

I want to explore more about other races, so no new races for now. Let us know more about the ones we have now in Tamriel and it's sub-races before moving to another place in Nirn.

My constant playing of argonians stem from what I first played EQ. In that game, I chose the reptilian race, http://www.eqvids.com/Flash/iksar/iksar3.jpg, and I loved them (and I'm no furry). They were an "evil" race, but they had a lot of dark humor and an interesting history.

Sadly, I haven't been able to find a suitable race to meet them, but the argonians come really close. Plus, the one in MW is very Nurgle-like.

Hmm... What are the mer views on Orcs? The more "superior" of the Mer, I would imagine, would deny any relation to the Orcs. Especially the Dunmer, being at war a lot. I mean, it is quite feaible to deny. Look at how different they are.

I want to see one-all of the races outside Akavir (unless there's another war, but I don't really wanna see that. We need something less epic).

And I don't think they should be playable. I could imagine the engine really ruining the races if they're playable. I mean, armour is a major problem, for example. A lot of the races are just too different to design multiple armours for, and I don't just wanna see a bunch of retextured man races.

And I NEVER want to see an extinct race. Perhaps the occasional exception, such as Yagarn, but It ruins the mystery, compeltely. I LOVE not knowing what the hell happened. Faomer and Dwemer are great, in this regard.

My favorite race is the Redguard because of the idea of 'sword singers' and the Ansei.

My least favorite race is Imperial for the same reasons as Hircine.

I would love to see the Tsaesci as a playable race in the next game or in the future. Immortal vampire serpents aside, it is their sense of honor and their political acumen that draws me to them. They held the Empire together after all the Reman's were slain. They also forsook their own homeland to protect the Empire during the time of interregnum without guidance or recognition, all because they made an oath to Reman I.

Awesome.
