These two weapons are incredibly similar in practice while still being different enough to have their differences matter. I'm curious which one people prefer more.
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/All-American
-Superior clip size (2.4x the ammo of Survivalist's)
-More ammo diversity (AP is available, hand load ammo more practical)
-Scoped
-Lower AP cost (13 instead of 20)
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Survivalist%27s_rifle
-Superior DPH (48 vs. 26)
-Superior DPS (374 possible vs. 312 possible)
-Cheaper and easier to repair (repair from NPCs is expensive but Service rifles come cheap. Jury Rigging makes this point moot)
Alongside their unique advantages over each other, both enjoy a very fast firing speed and reloading speed. Both ammo types are about equal in availability since both 5.56mm and 12.7mm are found in mass quantities from merchants but rare from common enemies. The Survivalist's Rifle's ironsights are misaligned, but this is more of a preference issue as I'm sure many of us can agree that adjusting to it's ironsights is quite simple. One should also note that both benefit from the Grunt perk, but the Hand loader ammo for 12.7mm is a HP variant, meaning you'll not really gain benefit from using the 12.7mm's hand loader ammo vs deathclaws or other armored foes. The 5.56mm hand loader ammo however is basically a free 15% extra damage with zero downsides, but that's STILL not enough to give the All-American superior DPH or DPS.
Personally I must say that on paper I'd consider the Survivalist's superior, but in practice, I'm hesitant to put the All-American down simply because of it's ammo diversity and superior clip size. It's a difficult situation where the numbers tend to suggest the superiority of one but in practice, that massive clip size and ammo diversity feel more reliable.
