Back in Morrowind, the beast races actually looked the part, beastly.
They had claws and feet that looked the part, meaning they were not able to wear boots, also since they were covered with fur/scales they were not obligates to wear loincloths.

but in Oblivion, the beast races were subjugated; de-clawed, shodden and wrapped in the trappings of the 'civilized' races.


I propose that we let our beastly brethren return to their natural ways let them show their nature.
But since I hear it can get pretty COLD in skyrim, Give them boots that an Argonian would be proud to wear (without his claws shredding it by walking)


What does everyone else think?

Beasts shouldn't have briast and genital appearance of a human in the first place, so why give them loincloth? I personally have never seen a lizard whose genitals are actually visible under standard circumstances (i.e. not while mating or some such), and Khajiits got fur for themselves

I think the beast races should look more beastly than Oblivion, but not as beastly as in Morrowind. IMO both went too far to the point I couldn't take the beast races seriously anymore. They should look different enough that they're actually beastly, but not so different that you can't take them as serious as the other races. In that context, I am pro beasts wearing boots and underwear.

1) Argonians are cold-blooded so your argument is immediately moot :P The "beasts are not humans" argument is also a bit weak in my opinion, since Mer aren't humans either.

2) Khajiit should, in my opinion at least. They're humanoid mammals, so I don't see why they shouldn't.

Take away their abillity to wear boots and certain helmets but keep the underwear, unless of course you want to see their tackle. Also give them their claws back and a bonus to hand to hand or something, add bleeding damage or something.

Well on the underwear point, a lizard shouldn't really have any tackle to see...

I don′t see any issiue in wearing boots, just use a custom skin that addapts to the beastly style. Wouldn′t be the first game where the exact same boots looks one way on race A and another on race B

Surely thinking logically with regards to Kajiit, it should be a choice for the developers between standard feet and normal agility stats, or cat-like feet and an agility bonus. It doesn't seem to make sense to have an armored boot on a normal human-like foot and still get an agility bonus because they're supposed to have a different physiology to the other races, when in actual fact they don't.

If beast races must have their own footwear, then by the same token we should have different clothes and armor for different body sizes: Bosmers are about half the height of an Altmers...
And since it would be a needless complication that would add almost nothing to the game (but make a lot more frustrating to play), I'd say: just let them equip the same stuff every other race can.
Even though I actually loved how they looked and walked in Morrowind. Made them so... different. Also, Argonian swimming, their tail waving behind them... loved that. :)

Oh, and if beast races are going to have their claws back, I want them to be able to actually use them when fighting bare handed. In Morrowind they had claws, but those had no effect on hand-to-hand combat.

YES! Boots neews to be adapted to the particular race. A Woodelf shouldn't be able to wear the boots of a Kajiit.

All boots and undies should be banned, I don't see why people are allowed to wear skins of Kahjiit for underwear and hide of Khajits for boots.

Well Argonians are reptiles? They are cold blooded, they should have resist weather, even if not officially.

Uh... cold blooded makes you vulnerable to weather. Ectothermic, as in their temperature is controlled externally.

make the argonian completely unique and make the khajjit like a werewolf but a werecat, i love khajjit and argonians, but ARGONIANS ARE COMPLETELY FTW! im definitly going to be an argonian assasins,! AND I LIKE HOw these beast races, even though they are smart, are always the poor folks of ... dunno.. everywhere, maybe they have more control in their respectives countrys, black march and elsweyr

Size and shape are two different qualifiers; it isn't the same token at all.

But they should have their claws back, put it would be silly for them to punch; the world should be my scratching post.
