Do all games have This Fan-base?

Post » Thu Jun 24, 2010 11:02 pm

ive been waiting for BRINK to come out from the very beginning of the announcement and i wondered if all games have an active forum about a game before its release Like Brink.

i use to play COD but got bored of the lack of Communication and team work,so i moved to Bad Company 2 PC of course :D. and ive come to realise that Team Based games with roles are the best multi-player games(personal Opinion) especially for Clans. but as i never joined any forums for COD or BFBC2 im not sure if they got as much attention before release as Brink is.

so any hardcoe Game Followers is it me or Brink getting more Fan Based attention than it is Media attention?

Yeah they all have forums, but I have not seen any like this one yet. The official BC2 forum is a joke, absolutely full of trolls. It was decent back in the day before it was released, but the latter months are horrible.. I don't even go there anymore... no point.

You'll always have a plethora of "OMG THIS WEP IS OP, NERF NOW!!" threads for any shooter and what not, but all in all this is a great forum with pretty damn good mods.

Well most games have forums, but from my experience this forum is one of the best, no flame wars between peeps from different consoles(Unlike the BF3 forums, there are some plain stupid guys on that forum).

AHH i guess before release everyone is talking about what they cant wait to do and try
and after release its more like a Community of Feedback and what's not working out.

Aye, This forum is the best of the many I've been to. Nice helpful community, Mods that do thier jobs well and take part in interesting threads, Quick to share newly discovered information.

The only bad part is that we're quick to violently react against insulting BRINK, and the majority of that comes from being compared to Call of Duty (And just in case you don't know, BRINK is fighting to NOT be Call of Duty. Comparing the two means you do not acknowledge that, and is a direct insult to BRINK's entire premise.)

this is very true i got mad at a friend for comparing this to Call of Duty because he based his opinion on the official trailer

yeah i agree i was a COD fan boy but i grew up and realised it was to much hype. espically as most companies say i wana make a game better than COD, i think they shouldn't think like that and rather say i want to make a game opposite of COD. e.g Brink

but even with the BF3 forum being a "joke" does it change your judgement on getting the game

I hate the BF community. It's either full of PC elitists who want Battlefield games to only be PC-exclusive, or [censored] who go out of their way to say that COD and Halo are the worst games to ever exist on this spinning blue planet.

There's potential for a solid fan base here considering how fervid some posters are even when they haven't played the game yet. The excitement is definitely a factor for it's activity and it'll probably stay this way for a while if the game delivers. The forum in it's entirety is pretty solid and active. People come and go, but there's always a flow of new blood. Some folks have been here for 10 years or more...that alone is a testament of Bethesda's community. :spotted owl:

Yeah this is the most active fourm that I have ever seen... pretty much everyone is helpful there isn't too much platform [censored] talking... there is some flaming but not much. Overall I think the Mods have a lot to do with it, also that many of the members (Not all but many) are probable slightly older, and I think that helps out alot.

Yep, Halo has but there are alot of whiners lately. They weren't there pre-release, but I even here see some guys who think PC's are the best thing in the world and consoles should be rituallyburned and vice versa.

most of my friend are console and if it wasn't for the modding community i would be on console. because PC specs, and blue screen which i currently am still getting is annoying. and tbh my graphics card has never really been at the point where it is way above console. if it wasnt for my game i would be hitting console. it so easier buying and joining a game. but hopefully Brink runs fine on my rig

BioWare's the Old Republic has had the most active pre-release forums I've ever seen. No bashing on Brink in the least, as these are excellent forums, with the fewest trolls I've ever seen. But tOR's forums have been more active than these for over a full year now... although it has been trolled aplenty.

To be fair most of this BF community bashing is uncalled for, the fact of the matter is that every community has the trolls and the mature players, its just that on these forums we have strict rules that forces the trolls to act nicely (no offense to any wannabe troll out there on our nice forums :P).

Also about the BF community being PC elitists, maybe its true but I think that what most of them mean is that a Battlefield's PC version should be built with PC in mind, as much as I liked BC2 it just wasn't a good Battlefield experience compared to either 1942, 2 or 2142.

Anyways, what I meant by my first line is that here its all nice and fun but I'm sure that when we're going to boot up our game on any console we'll be greeted with trolls as much as the other games, its just how the internets works.

Aye, I've been a lurker on many a game forum in the past. But this is the first I've actively jumped into.

Maybe its because it looks to be an awesome game? Or just the fact that its an amazing forum-community..... You can decide....

I can honestly say this is probably the best forum I've been on. The reason being is that the community is extremely active and helpful which can be seen on a lot of forums. The thing that really stands out about this forum is how everyone tends to get along. I haven't really seen anyone being obnoxious, childish or insulting to anybody else. I feel like this forum is setting the tone for how the community of Brink is going to be. It's not going to be a bunch of 12 year old kids yelling try hard. It's going to be gamers getting along and playing in harmony. How games were intended to be played. Now sure, people will rage in-game, of course. Overall though, I think the Brink community is a great one so far and I look forward to the days ahead with this community. :vaultboy:

I was part of the APB forums prior to release and it was very inactive. It exploded after the game's release, but it was filled with "GAMEPLAY svckS" or "MATCHMAKING IS UNBALANCED" or "HACKERS AND LAG OMFG THIS GAME svckS".

I'm really liking this forum and I just hope it doesn't change when the game is finally released.

APB don't get me started i wanted to get that game so much then it crashed, which i have high hopes that Brink never will, but i have a feeling after the game comes out people will be posting the best specs and body types for certain classes, kind of like a Strategy guild made in the forums.
