I do think it will take a few days to a week for everyone to start finding their feet in not just the gameplay but also the strategy, the latter generally taking longer to get accustomed to. However, apparently with Brink everything is very intuitive, including the latter.
I think what will be fascinating will be the myriad of players coming from different previous games, and thus how their playstyles fit into, or adapt to Brink.
You'll get those who've been playing Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Quake, and so on.
You'll get those who've been playing Call of Duty.
You'll get those who've been playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
You'll get those who've been playing Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
You'll get those who've been playing Borderlands.
You'll get those who've been playing Team Fortress 2.
There will be many more as well as those, I'm sure. The point is, I know for a fact that if I had still been playing primarily CoD up until now, I would start playing Brink a totally different way to how I will now, having played almost only Team Fortress 2 for a long time. and competitively too.
I can't wait. ^_^
