We're all going to be so bad!

Post » Fri Dec 10, 2010 8:38 pm

While Brink is an FPS, it is highly irregular in many regards, not least of which is SMART & the Overall pace of the game (Which I equate to Halo).

BUT, it's a new kind of FPS, which leads me to conclude we'll all svck in the first week; We will seriously blow.

We'll kick the bucket

svck a big one

Jump into the hurdle

Make the fail

Pull a Zack

So, anybody else willing to put their pride behind & accept the obvious? :D

Nay, I refuse to admit weakness or ineptitude! Also I'm going to do the challenges first to get used to everything.

I disagree..the game is still an FPS at its core, so you'll still understand that if you have a long rifle you shouldn't pursue the guy with a shotgun into the windy corridors, or with a submachine gun you shouldn't get into a long range firefight with someone with an assault rifle. You'll still have the core basics, it'll just be a matter of both learning maps, and learning the objective system!

If EVERYONE "svcks" the beginning, wouldn't that be the average and most normal skill level.

I think a lot of people will svck, though only at the missions and stuff, aim and movement should not be too bad if people have a history of fps games. I know the smart system is different but if you look at the reviews they all say that the smart system is really easy to get used to.

People that have played ET:QW and W:ET will probably know what they are doing.

I never svck at FPSes. Learned how to play years ago, with Combat Arms.

However, I also maintain a static 0.5 kill/death ratio in every game I play, and spend most of my time rushing at the objective. I'm never bad, just never good.

No. It may take me some time to adjust to the SMART system, but since we're starting as mediums I don't expect to over do it too much to start anyways and the rest is just another FPS.

Do I admit we will all be worse than we could be? Yes.
Do I admit we will all "svck"? No, because we won't.

Everyone who has played an FPS before will be able to play Brink decently right from the beginning, and anyone who has played a team based FPS like ETQW will be able to play Brink MORE than decently right from the beginning. But yes, I do think it will take us all time to get used to using SMART efficiently and naturally to its best potential.

Which is why I plan to play through the singleplayer campaign at first... :toughninja:

Heh, I was joking.

But seriously, it will be more different than you suspect, just watch, it's always like this.

Who the hell do you think I am!? A fast learner, that's who. Gimme an hour or two, tops, and I'm sure I'll have the basic gameplay down to a science. :disguise:

Honestly, I don't think it will be that hard to learn. The first match or two might be a lesson in patience as you get your sea legs, but a week? Surely not.

For me I do pretty well the first few weeks (sometimes months) that a game is out, because everyone is equally knowledgeable at the game as me. Nobody for awhile learns how to exploit stuff or has played so much that they have certain things memorized.

The song remains the same. Aim gun shoot gun! I do see where your coming from though. The heavy team play aspect is what we'll be noobs at for a while.

Right, i'll admit it, then, I'll svck.

Except that will pass by in a blink. I'm already accustomed to ET:QW, meaning I have the gist of most of BRINK's mechanics, and I'm a very fast learner. When Monday Night Combat came out for the PC, I consistently out-strategized the enemy, and often my teammates.
