All mine! All mine! All mine! All mine!

I encountered an odd bug after clearing the Deathclaws at Sloan.

My companions started acting weird. They enter combat, stop combat, then enter combat again. Complete with combat dialogue which makes this particularly annoying.
I tried to have them wait, be passive, and ultimately to leave to Lucky 38.
Then I got back to fetch them. But as I entered Lucky 38's Casino floor, the guard robots entered combat and said "Engaging target". I thought they were going to attack me, but they were friendly and just rolled at the walls and stopped there.
In Presidential Suite, all my companions were doing the same thing. Raul kept repeating "Let's dance!" while Veronica ran from room to room. Boone kept wielding and holstering his machete.

Sounds like a party. :ahhh:
Maybe, there where baby deathclaws you missed and then it somehow glitched into forever engaged combat, thats my theory.

Nah, I ventured back into the Deathclaw place and killed everything I could find, and companions still act crazy.

Had something similar happen today near Bittersprings. After fighting fire geckos Veronica stayed in her boxing stance and backed down the hill until she was up against a cliff wall. No geckos, but she wouldn't go back to normal. I had to fast travel to get her to go back to normal. I was worried I would have to load my previous save (35 minutes back).

I've fast traveled a lot already but my companions are still crazy. I even took them in a building and used KillAll console command in case some critter is bugged and follows my character wherever I go.

EDIT: Any suggestions? This is getting quite annoying.

I assume you've tried exiting the game and reloading?

You can try this, but be warned you may lose their quest rewards I believe, if you've done their personal quests - for instance I used it to get rid of Boone's quest armor once (the quests remain completed tho, doesn't re-set the quest itself).

Empty their inventory first (or you'll lose what they're carrying) then use the console (click on the companion so their name shows up on screen) then type resurrect. They don't have to be dead already. Should re-set them to their initial state/default gear. Maybe that'll stop their wonkiness. Make a new hard/separate save before trying it.

Knocking them unconscious isn't a bad idea.

Or...have you tried Waiting while in their presence? Like, wait 1 hour. The other day I discovered that when they wouldn't follow me through a door, when I Waited, they suddenly popped in next to me. Other than that, all I can think is to reload an earlier save. :/

Try getting into some combat. I had a mod companion that was locked into to alarm/combat mod. It cleared up after fighting some more and when it ended they cooled down to normal again.

Have you tried the Vault 22 elevator trick (go to 5th level) like when they're missing? It does a companion check. Maybe it does something else that will work. Good luck...trying to think of anything else here.

Leave them for a day in Quarry Junction. That should snap some sense into them.

I've had this problem for a pretty long time now too.. I eneter Mick & Ralph's for example and everyone (including companions) starts runnin' around yelling combat lines, and when I duck the game says either [CAUTION] or [DANGER], then I talk to them and everything's back to normal :|

I just entered Goodsprings saloon and everyone started running around yelling "leave me out of this!"

Could my character be the cause of this somehow? I'm not wearing any faction armor though.

I thought about that, but I've tried entering an empty room and using the KillAll console command, but in vain.

I admit, this is getting really frustrating. And I really don't want to start a new character since this one has 33 hours and only around 60% of stuff done in the game.

Can't be the mods I'm using. My another character works fine.
Can't be anything I'm wearing. I've tried removing clothing.
Can't be my companions just acting weird. EVERYONE seems to freak out every time I get close to them.

ANY, ANY and ALL suggestions welcome. I'm good at modding and console commands, so bring it on!

Is there a way to check which factions that character is in? Is there a way to clear all factions?

I'm not a GECK whiz but I see a GeneralHostileToPlayerFaction and there are other enemy characteristics mentioned when doing a search of Actor Data, Faction and filter it by the word "Player."

I hope you reported this in the problem forums since they're working on a patch right now and it could happen to any of us. Good luck...still thinking on it.

Are you getting 'CAUTION'? If so there was a console command on oblivion which let you see who was detecting the player, could find out what's causing it...

If not I guess it is the PC. Is it possible to kill and resurrect the PC or would it just count it as an ordinary death?
Other than that, I'd probably go for making a hard save and resetting things to neutral; reputations etc...it sounds like a mod might do it but I can't think why it would.

How do, say, NCR troopers react? Or ones which are normally friendly? The same way as the securitrons? In which case it's not the PC being hostile but a perceived threat accompanying the PC...obviously if KillAll didn't work though : / ......
