[req] all in one overhaul

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 12:30 am

Im nut sure what you are saying, why should i remove the link? Im sorry for the inconvenience but i don't understand what you are saying.

For one, it is an unauthorized redistribution of the mod, and due to recent events that is a very touchy subject.

And two, people install these superpacks without regard for how things work, then they try to put more in their game without any clue as to how to avoid messing up their current install. So they mess it up, and come here asking for help.

We don't appreciate our mods being downloaded from someplace where we have no control over the file (can't update, can't patch, can't add options, etc.) and when people download them, we simply assume all their problems stem from the unauthorized package because there is no point in trying anything else because we don't know what other junk that package might have came with.

Much like using a pirated game copy, using a copy of a mod that you downloaded from an unauthorized mirror exempts you from being supported until you get a proper copy of the mod. It is simply too much trouble trying to account for downloads from rogue sites for the community to bother with.

Basically, if you want us to help you solve your problems, download the mod from the proper mirrors. Don't encourage people to download from sources outside the developers' control, you step on a lot of toes doing so.

It's not really a "recent" issue, and it's not really "touchy" either so much as disgustingly disrespectful and very much illegal.

Be warned. Packs like these often contain content that has been improperly cleaned, pyffi'd or otherwise corrupted. It shows pretty dramatically--causing game crashes, twisted-up meshes, and scripts/ai that don't work right. Mod authors cannot and will not support anything that has not been obtained through authorized channels, so don't even ask. If you're too lazy to install the real thing, be prepared to fix it yourself, as the person who mashed this stuff together certainly can't. In the end you'll save yourself a ton of frustration and time by doing a full, correct install like everyone else.

Here's a list of what they are including, if you see your mod in this list and don't want it to be, you should ask them to remove your mod:

I've already tried previously with FCOM and it's associated mods when I first discovered the existence of this particular package.
It's probably no surprise to anyone in the know I didn't receive any kind of acknowledgment for the request.

I'm glad your finding the thread amusing.
Would you care to express your emotions if Oblivion Intensity's content and distribution was taken out of your hands?

That's horrible, I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe a takedown notice is in order?

Regarding my earlier link to a certain pack of mods, i am sorry, i had no idea that he was not asking for the other modders permission. I thought the rule was you always had to ask permission to put mods in your pack no matter what, so naturally i thought it was ok.

Once again sorry for any trouble..

That is the rule (and the law), but sadly not everyone obeys and modders generally have neither the time nor the money to enforce those rights among those without the courtesy to do so voluntarily.

Though it does make me happy to hear that you'd assumed that everyone was so respectful. Would that it were true.

It's appreciated, and thanks for the removal.
To someone new to the Oblivion scene this topic may seem nonsensical. If you do a little research of previous threads on the same subject you'll understand why around 99% of modders and the majority of mod users hold very much the same opinion as the few that have come forward here.

If you've used the Superpack for your own setup it may very well account for your own current issues http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1333436-arggggghhhhhh-ctd-again/
One update or a missing/incorrectly applied patch if required and the whole thing may come crashing around your ankles.

Hmmm... as far as I know, OOO, MMM and Fran (not sure about WarCry) have been authorized to FCOM team. I think it will be very welcome if FCOM team launched an "official compilation".
