When it all comes down to it, they all have identical stats except for mp. Bretons have magicka resistance by 50% so they'll win hands down. That, and of course there's always a slight magicka boost. The altmer is awesome for hit and run, but they can also be among the worst race to choose from if attacking multiple enemies. It is a war, so there's no way they'll survive. The orcs have a 25% magicka resistance, so I believe they have a very good chance due to the beserk spell/power. Redguards also have an adrenalin spell/power so I believe they'll deal out their worth.

So you misinterpreting the thread title makes everyone else elitists? No. You didn't understand the point of the thread is not about who is best. It's not a contest (despite Argonian fans' insistence on making it one), but a discussion on who could possibly win a world-wide war in Tamriel. Being the winner doesn't make them the "best" and it doesn't make the losers the "worst." It just means they were prepared for the scenario.

Orcs, no dount about it. Dont even bother arguing against it. Orcs are masters in crafting heavy armor, blunt weapons, have their fearsome berserker rage in battle, and are fearless and brave on the battlefield. They come from a brutal climate, way up in the Wrothgarian mountains. They are the ultimate masters in battle, and I dont see any of the other races even coming close to defeating orcs on the battlefield.

How is Argonian winning? There's no way they could defeat Imperials, or Nords, or even Redguards!

Only because Argonians are a very popular race to play as(I never play as one though). In a massive battle though, there is no way an army of argonians would defeat an army of Orcs, Nords. Maybe they could defeat the lowly Bosmer, but thats about it.

There is still a difference between which race is the best discussion, and which race would probably be the best (as in win) in a war discussion. It's not a "orcs are best, period" kind of thread.

It's about a big scale war and if you look at the history of the races and the military strength and skills, you can just argue. There is technically no best race, as there are numerous situations possible. One can just say 'overall' it's most likely that is the best/would dominate because of in this .

Besides, if someone would say: "Argonians are the best in a war, period." That would be totally out of the discussion seeing as he has no arguments.

none of these items had been discussed prior to this. "skin colour" - noones talking about that. "genocide" - where the hell did that one come from? war =/= genocide. "this game isnt about which race is better" - nor is this thread, its about conflict in the current continent. Many posters even raised the idea of alliances alluding to no "superior race" that could get the job done.

The argonians would win because they already know how to hold their borders against constant conquest and then they'd just take countries as the population fell too low because of war.

Hate to say it, but I think Imperials would win.

Not sure about during Skyrim, but Imperials in Oblivion and the other games are like the Romans. They have a large Empire, a large army, many soldiers, etc. They seem to have the best strategists, good mages, and good warriors. Along with having the most resources and highest population (I think), and they'd be pretty difficult to beat.

The Bosmer may be able to contend if it was a long, drawn out war, if they managed to pull of guarilla warfare correctly. But between having to fight the other races as well as Imperials, it's a slim chance.

You are overestimating the Argonians by far, it seems. Do you know what it took them to conquer Morrowind? A Nord Invasion, the Oblivion Crisis and finally the Red Year plus internal struggles, and only then Morrowind was weakened enough to be even touched by them. And don't forget, the Imperials could conquer Argonia with ease, while Morrowind could not be captured by the same Army. The Argonians just took an opportunity to strike at an already mangled foe, wich is effective, but no sign if great strength.

I personally don't think that any race could prevail, if it is an Death Match setup, where everybody is everybody's enemy. At one point the borders are to long to be maintained, and rebellions in the conquered land would let the conquerors lose hold of said lands, so only if they employ ethnic cleansing they can advance further, and in the end it would probably be a standoff between Dunmer and Altmer, and i honestly have no clue who would win since they are basically the same except skin colour and mindset...

Altmer, obviously. Why? The Psijic Order. They are the strongest wizards in existence, they could crush any army with a giant storm!

Well,we bosmer could hold out in our home land with ease.Armies would have much trouble moving through our dence,hostile rainforest,and we would use guarilla warfare to conqure any invaders with ease.

Sadly,thats all we could do.We simply couldnt go on the offinsive,we might be able to hinder supply lines/stir up a fuss in other races home lands,maybe take a few citys,but thats it.We're simply not built/organized for a full scale offinsive campaign.
