All out war between the playable races

Post » Wed Aug 17, 2011 2:15 pm

A different kind of thread for a bit.

Imagine an all out war raging on Tamriel, determining which race would be superior over the others. Who would win? Which (playable) race is the absolute definition of domination?

Factors you can take into consideration;
-Strength
-Population
-Average intelligence, strategic & tactical knowledge.
-Experience in battles.

Just to name a few.

Dunmer. They have powerful mages, warriors and assassins. They're good at everything and are the most balanced. I think could win for sure. Not that I'm biased or anything, heck no! :shifty:

I voted for the Khajiit, for they offer such a variety of forms within their race that they'd, overall, have much more flexibility, brute force, as well as adaptive qualities... Nextly, I'd say the Orcs... And I'm just going to use Oblivion's Orc as a template... But, the Orsimer are known for their berserker-esque qualities, their armors and weapons, their resistance to magic, their prowess in battle, and sheer strength. If I saw a legion of Orcish-clad brutes marching toward my position, I would be speechless....

In your "factors", you didn't include anything about magic.

You are right, it depends on a lot of things. But still, what do you reckon to be the race with the biggest chance for domination? If you count lots of different situations too.

Yes, but magic is a form of 'strength' too in my eyes, if you have a natural skill in magic like the Breton and the Altmer.

Well, if Morrowind wasn't a giant smoking crater, I would vote for the Dunmer just because of how much they hate everyone else.
And the fact that they were considered the second most powerful military force behind the Imperials.
Morrowind was the only province NOT taken by force. Dunmer are stealthy, warrior-like, AND skilled with magic.
With a dangerous and inhospitable land to conduct guerilla warfare in if ever bested in outright battle.

Bah, whatever. I'll still vote for the Dunmer. Wounded pride and the loss of one's homeland does wonders for the sword-arm.

Even though the argonians kicked their ass after Red Mountain erupted and Vvardenfell was destroyed. ;)

I personally think that one race or another would end up allying themselves with another one just for a quicker victory so I couldn't really say who would come out on top of this racist war because their are far too many factors in play lol.

id have to say argonians would win as they are immune to poisons and most disease and not to mention they can breath underwater which opens up a whole new tactical advantage for them. and one would be making a grave mistake to not take into account the various bloodlines of the argonian race mainly the Sarpa a race of winged flight capable argonians the sarpa would be an invaluable asset for that ability alone. and the breed of argonians from morrowind are cold blooded so they would come in great value as long term scouts because cold blooded creatures do not require much food. and in addition argonians are masters of guerrilla warfare every other army would still be using rank and file combat whereas the argonians would be attacking quickly in small numbers to diminish there numbers slowly or take out there resources. though the khajiit are equally versatile of blood and skilled in guerrilla warfare so defeating them could be very difficult.

Imperials.
They've done it before.
The well-educated and well-spoken native of Cyrodiil are known for the discipline and training of their citizen armies. Though physically less imposing than the other races, Imperials are shrewd diplomats and traders, and these traits, along with their remarkable skill and training as light infantry, have enabled them to subdue all the other nations and races, and to have erected the monument to peace and prosperity that comprises the Glorious Empire.

I'd say Imperial, as they've already conquered the whole Tamriel once.

The Altmer are pretty strong too, and doesn't Summerset Isle control Valenwood now, like it was before Tiber Septim's conquest (Aldmeri Dominion or what it was called)?
And the Argonians have conquered Morrowind, meaning they are a force to be reckoned with now.

Given their history, I'd say Imperials, but since they're smack-dab in the middle of Tamriel and would get flanked from all sides of the border and the fact that they've wronged each race in Tamriel at some point in time in one way or another they'd probably be the first to fall. I could see dark elves, nords, and redguards having the best chances of winning an all out war.

Most likely yes, that would probably result in a Mer alliance against any Human alliance.

Though I love my Bosmer, I'd have to give it to the Khajiit . You should read my post above... I feel that they have much more variance than the Argonians, though I love them both...

I voted Nords because I like them best.

But this battle is already resolved! The Imperials conquered the other races' homelands and added it to their empire and thus they are the winner.

The Imperials did it once, they could do it again. The only problem they currently face is a fractured sense of identity (think about the end of Rome or present-day United States), and so they would need a rallying cry or some catastrophe to bring them together under the cause of the Empire. They have the manpower to do it, the know-how, and a thirst for expansion. It's hard to stop colonial powers once they're on a roll.

Argonian. Resists poison and breathes underwater, giving them an edge for sneak attacks. They make great assassins AND good warriors. Their biggest foe would be the Khajiit.
