All preorder items GONE after reinstall

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 3:40 am

So I had three different DLC packs (griffin, darkset and assassin) and after reinstalling the game they're now all GONE. And the key's are invalid. Well done gamesas. Well done. It really was an awesome idea to use GameSpy. Now I would like to get my items back as I have paid for them asap. Thank you. In your PC FAQ it is stated that I should contact GameSpy support but their site has no support to be seen. I'm sure you will provide a working solution to this oversight, right?

Question(s) for you.

What version of Windows are you using??

and, Did you even Bother to backup your save game files incase you had to perform a re-install??????

Gamespy is not and cannot be held responsable for what happens on your computer.

The very first thing I did after entering my unlock code was to backup my savegame files to another location so incase I have to re-install, I will not loose anything. The Gamespy Network will not keep track of things that are your responsability to do so.

freelancer the system used in hunted for preorder is highly annoying i got a nice bluescreen presented to me by winblows 7 64bit out off the blue right after my unlock so i'm quitte stuck atm.

i prefer the pre order system like in dawn of war 2 retribution (ie it adds files after the unlock is done like a patch would, which the unrealengine supports just adding the extra packages as a download would have been far better in my book

sorry to hear that cyb3rSage.

It was not my intention to come off as being so harsh.

The Pre-Order Bonus items are not an actual download, but more of an Unlock that requires a key code to unlock them. For example, Some need for speed titles have an unlock code to get more cars that you cannot access until the key is input. BUT the cars are installed on the inital install right from the CD/DVD.

I myself always do a few things before installing a new game or Important new software on my computer.
#1 I schedule a run of ChkDsk to find and fix any and all file problems on my HDD(S) Which I also always do after an Improper Shutdown.
#2 I run Nortons 1 button checkup to detect and correct registery errors, Invalid Shortcuts, etc..... This usually fix's any and all active-X errors on the system
Now This is Very Important because Active-X registery errors can royally screw up a windows Installation if they are not corrected.
#3 I ALWAYS DEFRAG my HDD(S) that I intend to Install the software to before Installing. I use Diskeeper for this as it allows for Multiple Simultainious Defrag Operations on PC's that have more than 1 Physical HDD Such as mine.(I have 3 with a dual boot system)

Using the steps above with regular weekly defrags will usually keep your system in tip top and usually prevents the dreaded Blue Screen of Death which has never happened on my Vista 64 Installation. Other than that I guess it all depends on your system.

Regardless of what one can do to prevent it, I have to admit this is a sloppy way to handle pre-order items. The items should be ACCOUNT-based if anything, not based on something being unlocked on the local PC. I have everything just fine on my Desktop PC, and when I went to put the game on my lap-top, I could no longer use that same pre-order code. As a Steam gamer it is certainly within my right to use the game on my 2 machines and I shouldn't need to contact Gamespy to resolve an issue like this.

indeed pyradius and my windows install is fine freelancermar the issue was caused by a misstake in a patch from microsoft which got solved in the patch after it

Unluckily the damage had allready been done and even filerecovery sadly couldn't solve it anymore, right now i've been in touch with gamespy who says they can't do anything about it they just deny the issue which i'm not laughing with contacted steam support haven't had a reply so far and no reply yet from bethesda support either

So i'm waiting it out but for someone who supported the game since it was available for pre-order (note i bought 2 copies even one for me and one for a friend) i'm feeling like i'm getting left out for what i supported since day 1

Indeed this is no way to handle customers. PC customers always seem to get the short end of the stick as both Xbox and PS3 users can happily redownload their unlock codes as many time as they want. Bethesda please DO SOMETHING.

wow that sounds really annoying. I'm still waiting for my delivery, so i still have my pre-order unlock before me. :o
This is quite ridiculous, i have never heard of a locally stored pre-order bonus. What if my HD crashes? Please Bethesda/Steam/Gamespy whoever, do something about this.
