All Previous Games

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:50 am

I don't know why but i really feel that there should be a collection of all elder scrolls games when skyrim is released. Maybe im just biased because i only played Oblivion and want to play every single game in the series, but Bethesda please make that option, instead of forcing me to go find every single one. Thanks!

Well you can already download Arena and Daggerfall for free (for PC obviously), Bethesda already released them for free download to celebrate various anniversaries. Unfortunately I had trouble getting the combat in Daggerfall to work on my modern PC!

Well Arena and Daggerfall are already available for free. I'm not sure if you are implying that all of the games should be free of charge??

I could see them releasing a "box set" with all of the games in it, but it wouldn't be free.

It'd be cool if Morrowind became free-ware after it's tenth anniversary. (that was when arena and daggerfall was released for free right? after their respectful tenth birthdays?)

May 1st, 2012 will be morrowind's

You can get Arena and daggerfall for free in Bethesda's site. I'm playing daggerfall atm btw.

That probably won't happen. Unlike Daggerfall and Arena, I think Morrowind still sells copies.

Arena and Daggerfall are free. Possibly in Steam Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim could end up to be sold as one package...some time in far future.

Edit: I think it's unlikely that there would be a retail box version with them all.

I think it would be cool, but you can get Arena and Daggerfall for free now, go ahead download them you won't be disappointed. For games like Redguard and Battlespire, Battlespire I see being free likely just in another anniversary offering, but Redguard I think they pretty much disown because the wasted opportunity they had to expand the universe, so I can see that staying a Elder Scrolls game that be forever forgotten... :violin:

But Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim could be released as a pack but likely not going to happen for ages probably until Skyrim comes down in price considerably... In a way it could be a good marketing plan for gamesas considering Morrowind would likely be worth next to nothing and Oblivion would likely be the price of a XBLA title or possibly less, and with Skyrim which if released when Skyrim is worth £30. Then releasing a pack worth the standard £50 for something in total would likely only cost £40 in total, it just gives Bethesda that extra in terms of earning some money... But a pack like that as I said, would only come out after Skyrim has been out already for ages.

Yeah, to find a Daggerfall copy you gotta go to a Museum. And they still won't have it. Arena's even rarer.

Hell no, not steam! I'd love a carefully packaged bundle with all the games CD rom's and etctera, with each game's box art and manual though.

Well, I bet they could've put DF and Arena on XBL and the PSN and made a pretty penny on it... they must be kicking themselves now for not holding on to those.

It would have taken way to much work to remake both of those games only to have a large portion of the feel of them be lost in translation. Better to leave them as they are so as not soil the nostalgia for first and second generation TES fans by whoring out their legacy for a few bucks.

it would be nice but it wont happen. they still get a lot of Oblivion sales and even a good bit of Morrowind sales. So it will be a while before they release those games for free.

That's gonna happen on Steam regardless. it doesn't matter what developer you search for you can almost always buy all their games at once for a deal. Then they also do other deals as well like extra money off on a specific weekend, that kind of thing. I bought Portal 2 from there and got a free copy of Portal. Looking right now (I don't work for Steam or anything, just for the sake of arguing my point that it WILL happen):

Valve complete pack: 24 games costing $230.80 separately, for $99.99
Bethesda Pack (See? Told you it will happen): Fallout 3, MW, and OB (all GOTY) costing $74.97 separately, for $69.99
Star Wars Bundle: 13 games costing $167.87 separately, $99.99

Hell once they had a "Every Game on Steam" sale. All games for like $50

If you had to pay extra for this collectors pack, wouldn't it not be free? I think they should just do some kind of a deal where all previous games are like half off or something. That would be cool I guess.

It's not likely that anything beyond Daggerfall will ever be given away for free. Arena and Daggerfall were both solely owned by Bethesda and as such they have no one to answer to but starting with Morrowind and on through to Skyrim(including both Fallouts) portions of the engines and assets are licensed from third party sources and this prevents them from ever giving them away.
