All the Bugs... sadface

Post » Wed Jul 17, 2013 3:46 am

so i finally got the Legendary Edition. hmmmm. a few hours in and im about to freak the F out... two things:

1.) the corpse of Mirmulnir is following me EVERYWHERE... ya the corpse of a dragon just falls on my head randomly, while fighting, exploring, in the middle of a city.. wtf fun?

2.) Thonnir... wont... go ... the fack... AWAY. he follows me everywhere repeating his lame NPC pvssyr... over and over. and even started to fight me once. i cant even kill him... and oh, ive tried. ive tried.

only running SKY UI for mods... because your UI is laughably horrible. seriously, how does a game with so much quality get released mired in so much fecal matter?

I kinda swore off Elder Scrolls games after all the buggy gameplay in Oblivion. ya you guys make good immersive gameplay but your games are frustrating bug ridden messes.

Sorry for the hate but im really frustrated right now.

does anyone have ideas how to fix these problems?

thanks very much

I trust (if you're on PC) you are running all the Unofficial patches?
They correct literally THOUSANDS of bugs.
The game is basically unplayable without them...
Unless you enjoy that sort of thing.

1. Loot the Whiterun guard armor and helmet and the dragon will despawn.

2. After you finished the quest?

I'd like to know what the people who play on consoles think of this kind of statement.

The Statement is very untrue though mods would definitely improve it. (I think)

Mods are good... when you do them by yourself. Modding adds another dimension to the game. ;)

I double that.  .

My very first character on 360 had only one bug, "Blood on the Ice." Everything else worked perfectly.

Now on PC it appears it may be different even with the unofficial patches. First time today I went to the courtyard to get the Whirlwind Sprint shout the guy wouldn't do it. I immediately reverted save to the door and didn't try to press him and just followed the greybeards, Argenir started his dialogue and it went off without a hitch. Sometimes the best way to get around bug issues is simply to make sure you have a save to get you out of trouble.

You would probably get less bugs if you played with less mods. You're not playing the game vanilla, are you?

I play on xbox and rarely get bugs. I did get a quest breaking bug but I fixed it with a bit of help from 2 people.

If the Dragon Bones are an issue, just use the console command "disable".

As for the following Lumberjack...

I too strongly suggest using all of the Unofficial Patches. Although, I never had any real issues without them, nor did I have issue with the game on the Xbox. For someone to suggest the vanilla is unplayable is utterly preposterous.

Dunno. I have the game + Hearthfire on the 360, installed on the HD. I had to start over because bugs corrupted my save to the point where I could not get past a certain part in the main quest no matter how hard I tried or what I did. An area-specific lock-up was preventing me from leaving the cave during "Escape the Thalmor Embassy".

I'd call that a game-breaking issue. And I know I'm not the only one who's had a problem like that.

Never had any problem with him.

No disagreement there, it would be nice if there were no bugs to worry about but you can get around them if you use your imagination and save often. It's not the best way obviously or we would never have anyone being frustrated to tears by the game but sometimes the game does give back as well with some surprising twists.

Even on 360 though I was eventually able to complete "Blood on the Ice" despite the bug and not having recourse to console commands.

I feel the OP's pain but at the same time my POVG and Mickaelpk I believe is that some of us don't HAVE the problems some have even though we had consoles.

I have never had issue with him either. In fact, he has never actually followed any of my characters. I mean they all gang up at the cave entrance but that's been it. I tell them to stay, although I think they may do that anyway.

You are right in that the unofficial patches do fix a lot for Pcer's and it's best that they do use them. But to say that the game is " unplayable " without is a very false statement. Would have been better had you put an ' IMO ' in front of that statement. :tops:

Anyway...........

I'm an Xbox player and I can say with confidence that I have had a pretty easy time with the game, I can't use mods, I can't use unofficial patches and yet what ever bugs / glitches I did encounter I was able to fix or work around myself. With a little know how and patients you can solve a lot of the issues on your own, without the aid of mods. Not saying there's anything wrong with using the unofficial patches cause I would if I could. But as a console player I'm proud to say that I can deal with any bug that may creep up and that statements like the one Gryphon made couldn't be further from the truth

The problem is, on the consoles, you never know when a bug somewhere is gonna cause a problem somewhere else. If something bugs out at some point, your game can start randomly freezing in specific areas. Even Main Quest specific areas.

And there's nothing you can do put hope clearing the caches works and then going back through all of your saves and seeing where the bug started by trying to get through it... and the bug might have been triggered by one of the first things you did in the game, meaning you'd have no choice but to start over.

Since you are on PC, I would also highly recommend getting the unofficial patches.

As that being unplayable without them....

That's not true. Me being on PS3, I've learned to avoid many bugs. I've only had few major bugs.

After Savos died, the next quest wouldn't start.

A priest in a certain cave (DG) would be hostile all the time.

I think that's it.

You can use the clearing of the cache and it may help or it may not. I've encountered locational freezing, where in you can travel ANYWHERE else but that one spot, the second you hit that spot the game freezes. Now from my experience the best course of action there when all else fails is to show the game who's boss. If you can make a save just outside the freezing area, then make your way forward, if the game freezes you simply load the save you just made and inch a little forward and make a new save file. Then push ahead again, you continue this inching ahead and saving until you push through the area of the freezing.

This has always worked for me, it takes a little patients and a half pack of smokes but it works from my experience :D

True. But in my case it was walking out of that cave at the end of the Thalmor Embassy back out into Skyrim.
Loading Screen Crash. Every. Time. And I did all those things and more to try to get through it. No luck. Had to start completely over from the beginning. And I had just gotten to level 40. Ah well, my new game is going better so far. No freezes yet.
