To all those who are doing a Skyrim "let's play" to

Post » Wed Oct 19, 2011 7:13 am

I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, but you know no one is going to watch them, right?

First of all, everyone is going to be playing the game themselves for quite some time. Why watch someone else play when you could play it yourself and discover new things?

Second, most people are going to want to avoid spoilers until they find it themselves in the game.

Third, It's probably not going to be that fun to watch people learn how to play the game. Most people are pretty awkward with a game's controls and gameplay when they first get it. Why would we want to watch someone else struggle to get the hang of things, except maybe for a laugh? I think people would much rather watch a playthrough from an experienced veteran of the game, showing how impressive they are and showing the viewers the best ways to get past particularly difficult parts.

Well for games like ME I did watch a lot of YouTube vids of others playing and it did help me decide to buy the game.

For Skyrim it isn't going to matter as I have it pre-ordered.

Maybe a vid of someone getting through I part I'm having trouble with. Maybe seeing new mods being used. I'll still check out the vids I suppose.

Not sure why this needed a thread. If there are 35,000 Let's Play Skyrim videos up on Youtube on November 12th, how does that affect you in any way? If you had a legal obligation to watch them then yes, I'd see the reason for this thread. But, no.

You mean:

I'm going be a jerk and spoil your fun, you know no one is going to watch them, right?

And I may scroll around to a couple after I get a few hours into the game.

Why do you care?
For what I care, they can buy the game and stuck it up their ass.

If people want to watch LPs of the game, then why is that your problem?
If you lack the willpower to not watch them, then you have only yourself to blame, not the LP'rs.

Thank you, OP. I never understood this conviction that Let's Players have that people actually care about what they're saying. I hate trying to find good gameplay footage on Youtube only to get annoying commentaries from people who really aren't all the amusing or good at the game.

You serious? You do know how Youtube "let's play" and "walkthroughs" work out right? People use them to help them complete the game, and people who don't have the game might want to see what its like.
