All I Want For Christmas....

...is some DLC

I realize the game hasnt been out all that long, but what a great stocking stufer it would be. its my belief that most DLC is ready at the games release. instead of giving us a complete game they leak it out in pieces to maximize profit, understandable.

i usually dont get DLC just because i feel it should have came with the game to begin with. Fallout is different for me this time around.

so how long after FO3's or NV's release was the first DLC available?

First Skyrim DLC was released around 6 or 7 months after game.

Betheda DLC for Fallout and TES is far from a 'cash in' it is never content that they cut so they can release later for a profit. It is always awesome and Fallout 3 hd some amazing DLC, (as did NV). It is going to be worth the price of the season pass of that I have no doubt.

What I can also say without any doubt is that there will be no DLC released in the next 5 days!!

I'm not sure how long we had to wait for DLC for Fo3 as I got the GOTY edition. It will be worth the wait when it comes though.

Operation: Anchorage came out 3 months after Fallout 3. Dead Money came out 2 months to 4 months after New Vegas depending on if you had a Xbox 360 or not. New Vegas got better with removing stupid DLC exclusivity for later DLC. So there should be a DLC in a couple of months unless Bethesda is taking their time doing other things.

Bethesda games always leave you wanting for more. It doesn't matter what they release we will always want more and more, I installed so many mods in morrowind, skyrim and FNV that I had to get an HDD just for mods, and saving many versions that get censored. I want the DLC as soon as possible with as much content as possible, and I also want the next TES to have more content than all the rest mixed together and for the next year. I hope they use that new studio to release 40 DLCs of all kinds, from full expansion that rival a whole game, to horse armors. I will buy them all.

Do you think they will release free DLC content? I want a DLC for a new map, and a DLC for settlements, new weapons, destructible enviroment, new voices for the protagonist, more dialogue options, new quests that can be solved in unlimited ways depending on your perks, expanding the perk list from 10 SPECIALS each to 20. New Bosses, new weapons with unique animations, new dungeons with confusing puzzles that you can just finish by nuking every wall if your character is stupid. Cyborg Deathclaws that you can have as a pet and romance, turn your settlements into actual armies, use science to craft original [censored] like weapons that teleport mininukes inside enemies head and stuff like that. Power Armors that hide your identity in each faction so you can be Batman. James Bond-like gadgets to finish the game without killing enemies and pass through every situation using clever tricks.

I want everything. DLC now!

DLC won't happen that soon. But some Christmas decoration for your settlements, like the one in diamond city you can see there at ingame christmas, would be nice :goodjob:

I don't think we will get free 'DLC' but they have said there will be free 'updates' that aren't just patches. Like the free updates we got for Skyrim, so maybe we will see some tweaks to the game, new animations, features, new crafting and building options who knows?

Actually most isn't, its a classic case of a few bad apples spoiling the harvest, giving a unfair image of DLC.

Plus why would Bethesda publicly say they plan to listen for player suggestions for DLC if it was so pre made as you claim?

sorry, i don't read every forum thread. guess i missed that request. just based on how long it takes to develop a game, i don't believe that they just sit around waiting for suggestions

They are not 100% honest, but that is only so they don't give anything away. I don't think anyone believes they have any DLC bundles 'ready to go'.

But Todd Howard made out that they hadn't even started thinking of ideas for DLC yet, or they had a few ideas but hadn't decided on anything yet........... I don't believe for one second that is true. Yeah they started making Fo4 before Skyrim was released but they haven't been working on any DLC yet, how dumb do they think we are????

When they say 'We don't know what the DLC is going to be yet' all I hear is........ 'were not telling!!!'.

It's going to be so cool though and I can't imagine how amazing the 'finished' game will be in a year or so.

Depends, not like Beth is required to release DLC any time soon, they can take there time.

Plus its just to fish suggestions, its not like they plan to 100% base DLC on what the public say, most of it gonna be something they come up with, but if they can pick up one or two popular ideas from the crowd to maximize the DLC appeal that's a good thing in there book.

I get that and I'm really not trying to argue with you. but if they wait 3-4 months to release new content, a large portion of the community will have already moved on to another game

also ive played several online rpg's, and it seems as if there is always some issue with the coding. sometimes its minor, other times huge. one game I played issued a huge update, and many people had their entire inv wiped. I know that's an extreme example, I just think Bethesda is better than that, thus having the majority of wrinkles already ironed out

If previous Beth games are to go by, they wont have that problem, since Beth usually take there time and prefer to make few, but big DLC, most folks wait for it with anticipation, knowing they get good content. Plus once the GECK drops early next year, people gonna be quite busy enjoying modded content.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! That's comedy. No but seriously I wouldn't worry about it. Just look at how active the Fo3 and NV forums are now. You must not have much experience with Fallout or Fallout fans.

It's going to take a lot more than 3-4 months for people to start 'moving on' from Fallout 4, maybe 10 years!!!!!

Bethesda RPGs have staggering lonevity, Hell Skyrim is still one of the most popular games out, so many people still play it, and if anything Fallout 4 will just pick up more fans as it ages.

I was playing Fo3 and NV in the few weeks leading up to Fo4's release and they are both still AMAZING. The amount of people who still play those games would surprise you.

Once again.......... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

Not trying to insult you, honestly, that's just one of the funniest posts I have read since I signed up here.

I agree with Braff.

People are still plaing Skyrim and FNV. Today's player peaks according to steam stats were 40,508 for Skyrim and 7,220 for FNV. These numbers aren't likely to drop until the FO4 GECK is released.

On topic, all I Want For Christmas is the GECK! :)

Although, a DLC that adds survival mechanics and ammunition crafting would be nice. (even though people are probably already planning mods for these)

Illogical argument.

It's not a multiplayer game, so there is no great need to 'keep people playing'.

After all, they already bought the game.

DLC is there to bring people back and spend a little more.

People remember that the DLC was good/not good.

Whether it takes 2,3,4,5 months to emerge is irrelevant.

This is actually a good point, If they release the DLC too soon, lots of people might forgo purchasing it because they still have so much left to do in the game, If you have finished most of the game and want more then DLC looks more attractive.

This is just one side of it and I could be way off mark, but it could be a factor.

I waited 15 months for DLC with Skyrim. I'm not in a rush for Beth to rush DLC. Would like it to be considerably shorter than that though. I got my game for the holiday season. Let the first DLC be really well done.

Am not expecting DLC till October next year but I hope they add some Doom inspired cross over goodies in a content patch when that drops like they did with Portal and Minecraft in Skyrim. It would be such a missed opportunity to not add the BFG as a plasma heavy weapon. :goodjob:

I totally forgot about that, you are right. In the case of skyrim they added the horse combat for free I remember. Shame they ruined magic with the kill cams though.

Yeah there was a few bugs with the magic kill cam at times if I remember rightly. But we got the 'legendary' skill feature that essentially allowed you to level up indefinitely for free I think, I'm pretty sure that was one of the things that came with a free update, there may be some things I'm forgetting. Bethesda are very generous with their updates.

Heh, nothing to worry about. If the past is any indicator, there will be a minimum of 4 or 5 story based DLCs over the next year for FO4. They will average about 1 every 3 or so months...PLUS we should get the GECK fairly soon. Gotta love Bethesda for putting all that content out after a release.

This isn't Elder Scrolls with their standard two big DLCs. Fallout has slightly smaller DLCs, but there are more of them (4-5) and they are released more often.

I am interested to see what they add in for free based on feedback...Skyrim offered up a few nice surprises.

For Christmas though? Bringing back survival mode and ammo reloading/handloading would be a nice bow wrapped Christmas gift...oh, and an assault rifle that doesn't weigh 4 times more than it should, and looking like prehistoric ass, would be a nice stocking stuffer.
