All of your game saves....

It would probably be my Oblivion character from my first playthrough.

This.

If we include games with saves stored on The Internet!, then I'd keep my World of Warcraft characters from being deleted. Otherwise, I don't care.

My Oblivion-saves. I have put too much time and effort into that game to just shrug it off if the saves got deleted. I am very emotionally attached to my Oblivion-characters.

I don't mind my saves getting deleted, but I'd hate to lose my Oblivion/Morrowind mod collection. I guess that I've got some gems that came from sites that have been long taken down.

I would feel bad if for any reason my game saves got deleted, but hey, life goes on. I guess.

Do I still keep my achievements? Took me a long time to get all those. If so, then I would keep my current Dead Rising 2 playthrough save, I do not feel like starting at level 1 again and I'm really starting to enjoy the game now that I'm like level 22 and know what I'm doing.

Assuming you often connect to X-box live, if anything ever happened to your gamertag you could very easily recover it by selecting the "recover gamertag" option on the dashboard when you are not signed into a profile, then put in the windows live id and password associated with your gamertag and Voilà!

Anyway onto the question at hand:

This has already happened to me twice. The first time I accidentally deleted all my saved game data from my N64 memory card. The second time happened when three of my "friends" stole most of my Ps2 games, my controllers, and my memory cards.

If I had to choose one game save to salvage it would probably be my primary Mass Effect save.

my Ninja Gaiden 2 'way of the master' clear file. that was the most infuriatingly difficult one to obtain.

My current Baldur's Gate 2 file. Though there would be many tragic losses in this hypothetical, there aren't many that hold up to this 250+ hour epic. Even if I was only halfway through this game, that's a lot of play time lost.

Same, especially since I imported the character over from BG1, so for the full experience I'd have to replay the first game all over again too.

I generally don't even make an effort to keep saves for single player games. If I'm about to format I won't bother backing up the save files for Oblivion or whatever. My WoW account has characters dating back to 2006 though, they have a lot of sentimental value to me and carry grandfathered items that can no longer be obtained in the game (such as the first dungeon set, special event items like the Arcanite Ripper, etc). Would svck tremendously if that was lost.

And then there's probably a fair amount of Everquest players who have characters 10+ years old.

If I could go back in time, I would save my original Morrowind character that probably had 1000+ hours. But since that's long long long gone, I'll say my current Morrowind save.

I'd happily replay most of my games. But I don't want my Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker save to dissapear. Mainly due to the password system, that unlocks extra stuff, since you can only use the passwords once per psn(And I wouldn't want another psn :P).

i don't play alot of the games on my xbox anymore but on saints row 2 i had almost 100 percent completion and it would svck to lose that even tho i haven't played it in about 2 years, also my second character on xbox oblivion beat every quest, i don't really care if i lost that save because it is no longer any fun to play

My choice would be my latest Oblivion character. I've lost my Oblivion characters too many times, already. Once, I accidentally deleted it. Another time, my PS3 broke and took my character with it. Another time, I accidentally murdered someone with my character and saved without realizing what had happened for quite a while (having people constantly call my character a murderer and hearing "I used to think you were a hero" bothered me too much). I spend more time developing my Oblivion characters than any other game characters, so it's very disheartening to lose them.

I haven't played WoW in ages, but I am pretty sure that it's the Arcanite Reaper.

Personally, I'd be really pissed off if I lost my X3 Terran Conflict save. That game requires a lot of time and effort to seriously get going, it's Morrowind x10 in that regard. That does however make it all the more satisfying once you have finally made a name for yourself in the galaxy. Having to go through the initial phases of the game all over again would be infuriating.

Don't really care about any other saves, the only ones that I'd care about I could get back to the same point in a few hours.

I really need to find a weekend where I can devote a lot of time to getting back into X3. I love the concept of it but the beginning is so slow and I forgot all the controls. :(

Probably my Company of Heroes campaign saves.

I wish they weren't actually deleted in real life.

My latest DMoMM save. I haven't finished the game yet, and have made enough progress that I don't want to start over.

My current New Vegas save. All others are much less important to me, I am either not far in the game or do not play it often.
