Today I cleaned out some of my mod folder, why i had 20 gig of mods there.
I really did not want to throw away the mod readmes though. many of these tell about where to begin the quest, or the location of something or maybe troubleshooting tips.
I found a clever way to get all of them into one folder without having to look at *each* mod folder one by one: so i will tell you all how.
there you are with your "oblivion stuff" folder.
open up windows explorer and go to that file folder, your folder that has all of your mods in it.
In windows search, at the upper left of Explorer, type in the last part of the readme filename.
In this case it is".txt" place an "*" before the query so it looks like this.....
[ *.txt ]
then in the folder with all your mods each and every such txt file, the readmes, will be found.
In the "edit" on top of explorer, bring down the options, right click. click on "select all" so that all the txt files are highlighted in blue. then copy these and pasted them into a new created folder in the "oblivion stuff" folder, name this new folder like..."readmes". this is where all your readmes will soon go.
there will be duplicates. after all, many mod readmes have a title that says just "readme"! there will be an option in the paste menu when the message comes up about duplicates, : just take the option to create a second file and do this for all files.
there. these duplicates will not now overwrite each other.
all the readmes txt files are in that folder.
however....not quite done yet.
some readmes are in other formats. you have to repeat all of the above steps for these.
.txt.
.doc
.html
.rtf
you now have all the readmes in one place and many of them will be in alphabetical mod name order.
