This is an old discussion but i decided to address it specifically.

A big part of the stormcloak vs. imperial debate seems to rest on what is the best way to deal with the Thalmor. Without Skyrim providing an additional number of soldiers Cyrodiil is weakened and ripe or invading. Stormcloak supporters argue that Ulfric would send aid to Cyrodiil in order to protect Skyrim. Imperial supporters argue that independence should be sought after the Thalmor has been dealt with. In my opinion, both sides wrong. The empire would never accept Skyrim's declaration of independence (even if Torygg backed him up) nor would Ulfric send aid to Cyrodiil (the empire is "corrupt and dying"). Unless you're rping your Dovakiin to make these decision, in story indications seem to favor the opposite.

But what do you think? Will either side assist the other if they win the war?

Some people like the idea of a Tamriel where all the provinces are independent and believe they'll co-exist peacefully, that's their prerogative.

Me? I don't find it appealing, nor do I find any reason to suggest that these independent provinces can co-exist peacefully, given that even under the Empire many of them have gone to war with either the Empire or another Imperial province. Particularly, but not limited to, the provinces of Man.

This is pretty much what I think, and to answer the question I don't believe either side will really bother helping the other side. I think things are way too bitter now.
