TC Alliance

The point is not that I want to force anyone to leave Morrowind and work on something else he isn't a fan of at all. I might understand if there would be some awesome new stuff done for Morrowind, which is different from what I've seen in the past, but sadly that's not the case. I cannot count anymore how often Redoran or Hlaalu tileset has been retextured, how often another house was build in Balmora or a single armor has altered to rlether, steel, fabric and whatnot. It is like having to eat the same meal every single day and that simply doesn't work for me.

Even Bethesda isn't interested in that old game anymore. Sure they need to make money and beat the other gaming companies, but they are always heading forward and make fresh new stuff. And also I wasn't such a big fan of Oblivion, I personally would have never ever again bought another addon for Morrowind. Doesn't matter if mods were available or not. Why have most of the creative modders, which were really good in 2D and 3D arts left this community. I guess besides real life issues, they mainly left because they were simply bored of what was happening here over and over again. Or they felt offended, because their creativity was lterary kicked in the face, by those hardcoe lore heads, conservatives and don't- dare- anything- new- people. I'm not at all an offensive person by nature, but I feel in here like in a deep swamp, were every movement becomes a major struggle. This is no fun for an artist who wants to do new things all the time.

they're not all gone. and whats wrong with retexing things? you for one should know that EVERYONE has a different taste, i used to use vality7's hlaalu stuff, then i found AOF's and found i prefer that for my game setup. i mean you out of all people should know that just one thing isn't everyone elses cup of tea. only a stuckup-@!#!$ would feel offended with other people trying to do what they did but just not as good as they did, if i ever made a mod that was good enough that other people wanted to reproduce similar things i'd be honoured. and it's been 9 nearly whole years, new technology comes out every year! ofcourse people are gonna redo things when a new technique is available.

if u want to do new things that are completely different from the game, do so. just stop slagging down the community by pointing out all the "good" modders have gone away cause they feel offended, and that we dont do big projects anymore, we're having all the fun we can aswell, and enjoying it. and making the 34054 retexture is fine, it's not like we have to be peer pressured into making something new that everyone else wants us to, everyone makes what they want. :)

After playing Arktwend, which was very well done, I have realized the great potential in TC's. I don't expect a lot of the ones mentioned here to be finished, but I like that people are trying to make something new for Morrowind instead of just retexturing. People can retexture if they like, but as a MW-player, which I am more than a modder, I don't need all the retexture-mods while a well made quest-mod/landmass-mod/TC will offer new value and wellspent gametime for me.
But spending this thread on arguing on wether retextures are boring and everybody shold make TC's instead is a waste of time, especially a lot of modders are always looking for a reason to feel offended, so I hope people will be a little more constuctive in their posts and stay away, if they only want to bash TC's.

I know TDW's creativity has a hard time in the morrowind community with the lore-police lurking, but I would guess that most modders who has left the community has just moved on either in RL or started playing new games, because MW is an old game and most 8 years old games are simply forgotten by now.

Amen...

I agree with you. Everybody should work in the project he like, no matter what it is, and respect the fact that other modders are doing mods that I do not necessarily have to like. Everybody should decide by himself/ herself what he/ she is modding/ downloading/ playing, instead of arguing against other peoples work or a game that is based on the technical standards 8 years ago.

I hope the whole mockery will end someday and everybody concentrate on the stuff he likes to mod, cause a situation like this isn't very useful for everyone...the modders who are working on a TC, the lore based modders and the community in general.

PS.: No one is confronting TDW with lore anymore, since he left a lore based mod project.

Anyone is doing what he likes to anyway, no matter how long this is discussed, but nonetheless I feel to clean out the closet from time to time. I just wished this community was like: "Hey your ideas for that new project sound cool, come on let's do it. I can texture, I can script, I can do dialogues etc.", but here it is rather like "Hey, this doesn't sound lorefriendly. Nah, I don't think this will ever get finished anyway. I would love to help, but sadly got no time. I will wait and watch until project is almost done and then maybe add a house or a tree".

I'd love to see people putting the same time and motivation into helping others on their projects as they do with polls, lore discussions or beating down a supposed troll.

OOOOOK PEOPLE, now that we all agree that retexturing AND making a TC is both modding, we can all leave this behind, this is a TC alliance thread, and we are looking for people working on TCs.

PM offers are still open so feel free to send one to Chainy if you wish to join our community and share the ideas, or don't share the ideas and keep them to yourself and watch our ideas and talk about them! :P

Thank you!
