It might not be as much pay to win as it used to be, but it still helps to have a credit card handy. You need runes in this game, and if you don't want to pay for them you're going to do a hell of a lot of farming and completing surveys.

I've never played it but I have played one of its predecessors, Rage of Mages II. Pretty fun game, in my opinion.

I tried it waaaay back, over a year ago on the Asian servers. It was pretty bad back then and I ended up being frustrated at the lack of public and party chat. We could only PM each other back then. It was interesting, for as long as it lasted. How are the quests? I remember the tutorial area being a nice instanced place. Didn't get too far though, probably around level 10 or so.

One neat feature they have for mages was that you could cast a spell before a fight and use it later for no casting time. But it had no auto attack for melee classes.

I think I played the same race as you Exorince, those guys are the undead machine humanoids, right?

The quests are surprisingly good, I mean yeah sure there are plenty of grinding quests like in all free MMOs but the dialogue is pretty awesome and many NPCs have really unique characters.

Yes I play an Arisen mage (or a mage-like class). Their species is technically extinct but they are bringing their people back to life using bio-machinery

I wish I could get into MMOs. Just can't stand the grind. This looks good, though, anyway. Have fun.

Ah what the hell. I'll try it out, don't have anything to play atm anyway.

Whoop, 4mb/s download, shouldn't take too long then.

Please tell me you're downloading it from en.allods.gpotato.eu/ and not the .com website

I'm just saying this because sooo many people (including me) accidentally download the american version

I used your link from the response to what link we should use. :P And getting 4mb/s download I assume I'm downloading from a European server.

I'm on the ZAK server, if you press escape in-game then you can see it in the top right corner

Huh, looks interesting. I'm always wary to start a new MMO, especially since I'm at Uni now, but I may give it a shot.

Why download the EU version instead of the American version?

Because you can't play on the EU servers if you download the American version. We are playing on the EU servers because a) Europe is awesome, B) the EU servers have a MUCH larger population and c) The EU servers appear to have better uptime and latency, even for american players

How do you specify to download the EU version? There are like 20 different mirrors on the download page, and as far as I can tell the regular "Download Allods" link is downloading the American version.

Also, does it tend to be faster with either the P2P or standard server download?

EDIt: I think I found it (the Undaunted client at MMOsite), though I'm curious about the download method.

The file downloaded is Allods_EN; I assumed that meant the American version?

Because EN = American?

It's on the .eu website so it's the eu client, the url for the US client looks like this cdnetworks.gpotato.com/US/downloader/Allods_Downloader.exe

Nah, I just figured that it was auto-detecting based on my IP location. I didn't notice that the URL was different, and I couldn't find the client version clarified anywhere .

Tried several times over 2 days and couldn't connect to server, guess it's region locked.
